Data Architect

Applied Research Solutions

• Design and oversee data architecture for enterprise applications, ensuring efficient data flow within applications and across integrated systems. • Collaborate with system architects and software engineering teams to define data models, interfaces, and integration strategies that support evolving mission requirements. • Review proposed architectural changes to identify opportunities for improved data sharing, reuse, and interoperability across the enterprise. • Develop logical and physical data architectures that support scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions. • Evaluate how data is collected, processed, stored, and exchanged to ensure optimal performance and long-term sustainability. • Define best practices for application-to-application communication, including REST-based APIs and other integration mechanisms. • Provide technical guidance on structured and unstructured data management, including relational and NoSQL data stores. • Develop prototypes or proof-of-concept solutions when necessary to validate architectural approaches. • Participate in technical design reviews and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure architectural decisions align with program objectives. • Support enterprise modernization efforts by identifying opportunities to improve data accessibility, consistency, and governance.

Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4–6 years of experience designing or implementing data architectures, enterprise integrations, or distributed software systems.
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL) and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Understanding of structured and unstructured data storage solutions.
  • Experience designing or working with RESTful APIs and application integration patterns.
  • Ability to develop prototype applications or proof-of-concept solutions using one or more modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, or Go.
  • Experience collaborating with software developers, architects, and technical stakeholders throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex data flow scenarios.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Role Description We are seeking an experienced Data & AI Engineer to support the execution of our packaged QuickStarts, particularly those focused on GenAI (LLM Ops) and Data Lake architecture. This role will lead the development and deployment of scalable, production-ready AI/ML solutions built on AWS-native technologies. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or related field. - 5+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying cloud-based ML or GenAI systems. - Deep hands-on experience with AWS AI/ML services: Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore, SageMaker, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, OpenSearch, and QuickSight. - Strong Python development skills, with a focus on data manipulation, API development, and automation. - Experience implementing retrieval-augmented generation, prompt orchestration, or LLMOps workflows preferred. - Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Git-based workflows. - Excellent communication skills and ability to explain AI system design and tradeoffs to both technical and business stakeholders in a client-facing, professional services environment.
