• Seek candidates for the role of a Principal Data Links & Communication Engineer • Requires Link 22 and tactical data links engineering experience • Advise and assist the program Chief Engineer, IPT Leads, and PMs on performance, schedule, and cost issues • Provide knowledge and experience in the development, integration, testing, and deployment of Air Force systems and associated data links • Interface with the Federal, DoD, USAF, USA, and Joint communities to ensure data link communication capability compliance
• Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-performance, real-time software for autonomous systems using modern C++. • Implementing and integrating advanced algorithms for autonomous control, sensor fusion, machine learning, and mission planning. • Architecting and developing software that adheres to the Open Mission Systems (OMS) standard, promoting modularity, interoperability, and rapid capability integration across diverse platforms. • Collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team of world-class engineers, researchers, and military subject matter experts to translate operational needs into technical requirements and software solutions. • Participating in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to integration, testing, and deployment. • Analyzing and optimizing software for performance, scalability, and reliability on target hardware. • Creating and maintaining thorough documentation for software designs, APIs, and test procedures. • Learn new technologies, frameworks, and operational procedures as needed. • Other duties as assigned.
• Design and oversee data architecture for enterprise applications, ensuring efficient data flow within applications and across integrated systems. • Collaborate with system architects and software engineering teams to define data models, interfaces, and integration strategies that support evolving mission requirements. • Review proposed architectural changes to identify opportunities for improved data sharing, reuse, and interoperability across the enterprise. • Develop logical and physical data architectures that support scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions. • Evaluate how data is collected, processed, stored, and exchanged to ensure optimal performance and long-term sustainability. • Define best practices for application-to-application communication, including REST-based APIs and other integration mechanisms. • Provide technical guidance on structured and unstructured data management, including relational and NoSQL data stores. • Develop prototypes or proof-of-concept solutions when necessary to validate architectural approaches. • Participate in technical design reviews and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure architectural decisions align with program objectives. • Support enterprise modernization efforts by identifying opportunities to improve data accessibility, consistency, and governance.
• Design, develop, and test responsive user interfaces written in React to interface with backend cloud APIs. • Package web-based frontends into lightweight, native desktop applications. • Collaborate closely with backend engineers to integrate UI components with Go-based orchestrators, Python scripts, and cloud services. • Leverage GitLab for version control, code reviews, and active participation in CI/CD pipeline workflows. • Create and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests for UI components to ensure application stability. • Actively communicate with the product owners and stakeholders to translate user feedback into actionable UI improvements. • Document frontend architecture, design patterns, and interface specifications for the broader engineering team. • Capacity to grow and develop new skills in response to emerging challenges.
