The Senior Actuarial Analyst will be a vital contributor to the UHG Trend Analytics team, focused on supporting Optum Health with medical expense reporting, analytics and forecasting. This role is responsible for developing and executing quarterly medical expense reporting and forecasting processes that enhance consistency, transparency, and collaboration across UnitedHealth Group. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of actuarial experience, solid analytical skills, and a keen interest in driving best-in-class trend methodologies. • Design, run, and analyze A/B tests and product experiments across the Omni funnel — from hypothesis definition and instrumentation validation through results analysis and recommendation. • Proactively surface insights to product managers: anomalies in booking behavior, partner conversion degradation, funnel drop-offs, and pricing patterns that signal an opportunity — before anyone asks. • Own deep visibility into the Omni search-to-booking funnel; identify where and why partners and travelers drop off, model the impact of product changes on conversion, and connect funnel performance to revenue outcomes. • Build and maintain analytics that track partner performance across Omni Swift and Halo — activation rates, booking volume, revenue share, API health, and feature adoption. • Analyze how real-time pricing, inventory availability, and AI-driven pricing signals affect search quality, conversion, and revenue; surface patterns that inform pricing strategy and product decisions. • Monitor and analyze API and product health metrics — latency, search response quality, error rates, content deduplication effectiveness — and translate technical signals into product and business implications. • Partner closely with Omni PMs as an embedded analytical resource: contribute to PRDs with data, challenge assumptions with analysis, and ensure the analytical voice is present in every product decision and roadmap prioritization. • Leverage advanced SQL to explore large, complex datasets — booking events, search logs, pricing signals, and partner activity — and uncover key insights at scale. • Independently investigate open-ended product and business questions; identify patterns, quantify opportunities, and deliver actionable recommendations to product and senior leadership. • Identify instrumentation gaps and partner with engineering to ensure the right events are captured; collaborate with analytics engineering to build clean, reusable data models that enable self-service analysis across the team.

Role Description The Senior Actuarial Analyst will collaborate with team members and other stakeholders toward delivering needed actuarial services to the organization. Will work within one of three types of teams with the following responsibilities: - Medicaid Markets - Calculates, monitors, and assesses impact of fee schedule changes, program changes, base data changes, and enrollment mix changes over the rate life cycle. - Develops and maintains spreadsheets and databases for purposes of trend and data analytics. - Performs monthly data analysis projects to assist senior analysts. - Assists in updating forecasting models for reforecasts and expected budgets. - Prepares internal and external communications, including that with regulatory authorities and internal management. - Uses best practice models and other industry recognized pricing tools. - Applies actuarial principles in the performance of job responsibilities. - Valuation Teams - Updates monthly reserve model, reviewing specifics of IBNR calculations with either senior analyst or manager for assigned lines of business. - Performs monthly calculation of LOB membership and revenue. - Reports LOB reserves and revenue to accounting for monthly financial reporting. - Prepares summaries of revenue and reserves for LOB finance directors and upper management. - Fulfills monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc state reporting requests that involve reserves, revenue, or medical loss ratio. - Assists in the preparation of actuarial opinions and memorandum. - Uses best practice models and other industry recognized pricing tools. - Applies actuarial principles in the performance of job responsibilities. - Analytics Teams - Performs medical cost projections for the annual budget process. - Assists in developing cost projections for contract period negotiations. - Tracks experience against initial budget projections/expenses. - Develops revenue models as part of the monthly financial reporting package – has a clear understanding of the rate cells by LOB, stratification of current vs. retroactive members, revenue changes by month etc. - Clearly demonstrates an understanding of the base revenue from other pass-throughs or at-risk components of the base cap. - Can capture maternity and newborn kick as part of the revenue and submission process. - Assists in the preparation of actuarial memorandums for filing with the state and other outside agencies. - Prepares internal and external communications, including that with regulatory authorities and internal management. - Uses best practice models and other industry recognized pricing tools. - Applies actuarial principles in the performance of job responsibilities.
