Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, SDET
Diaconia
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for UI, API, and data layers • Define and enforce automation standards, patterns, and best practices across teams • Lead the shift-left testing strategy by partnering with developers to improve testability & design • Build API-first, contract, and integration tests for microservices-based architectures • Implement automated validation for ETL pipelines, data migrations, and reporting accuracy • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, enforcing quality gates for deployments • Perform root cause analysis by debugging test failures at the code and data level • Reduce dependency on manual regression testing through automation coverage and tooling • Mentor other test engineers in automation engineering and framework usage • Evaluate and introduce modern testing tools and techniques as appropriate.
Job Requirements
- US Citizenship required
- Active IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in test automation and software engineering
- Strong proficiency in Java and test framework development
- Extensive experience with API and microservices testing
- Strong SQL skills and experience validating complex data transformations
- Experience testing applications deployed in OpenShift / Kubernetes environments
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and automated quality gates
- Ability to operate as a technical leader and influence engineering practices

This role involves leading the evolution of quality assurance by combining human expertise with AI-augmented testing approaches to deliver highly reliable, customer-centric software. Oversee and mentor a team of QA Analysts Shape modern validation strategies that elevate execution, reduce risk, and strengthen release confidence Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and automation teams to embed quality at every stage of the development lifecycle Drive strategic improvements while remaining hands-on in execution Your impact will be felt across the entire product portfolio, improving usability, performance, and overall customer experience. Accountabilities Provide daily leadership, coaching, and performance management for a distributed team of QA Analysts Define and implement an AI-assisted testing strategy that enhances exploratory testing, risk detection, and test design efficiency Lead risk-based test planning to ensure critical workflows and high-impact functionality are thoroughly validated Oversee release readiness activities, including test strategy alignment, defect triage, and final quality sign-off Collaborate with engineering and SDET leaders to identify automation opportunities and improve overall testing frameworks Analyze quality metrics and defect trends to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence Represent QA in cross-functional planning, refinement, and product discussions while championing user experience and product integrity
