Senior Systems, Network & Security Engineer

Dijital Team

• Design, implement, and optimise complex infrastructure solutions across customer and internal environments • Support cloud, server, networking, and endpoint management initiatives • Ensure infrastructure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with business requirements • Participate in the planning and delivery of strategic technology projects • Lead and support cybersecurity initiatives across client environments • Manage vulnerability remediation and security improvement programs • Implement and maintain security technologies and controls • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations to strengthen security posture • Deliver internal and customer-facing project work across infrastructure, security, automation, and operational initiatives • Conduct project scoping, solution design, and risk assessments • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes • Support pre-sales activities by providing technical expertise and solution recommendations • Act as a senior escalation point for Service Desk and support teams • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure and cloud environments • Provide guidance and mentorship to technical team members • Ensure operational stability and service excellence across managed environments • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and operational workflows • Develop automation solutions using scripting and modern management platforms • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and service quality • Contribute to operational best practices and technical standards

Job Requirements

  • Extensive experience working within IT services, managed services, or senior infrastructure support environments
  • Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting complex IT systems and infrastructure solutions
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation
  • Experience supporting corporate, operational technology, and customer-facing environments
  • Demonstrated success delivering technical projects from planning through implementation
  • Strong hands-on experience with: Microsoft Intune, ThreatLocker, Cisco Duo, Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms, Cisco Meraki, Azure Virtual Machines, Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments, Veeam Backup solutions, ImmyBot, Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience
  • Experience leveraging automation to improve operational efficiency
  • Exposure to REWST automation platforms is highly desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate (Flow) is advantageous
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements across infrastructure and service delivery environments
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and customer engagement capabilities
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
  • Experience mentoring technical teams and acting as a senior escalation resource
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to assess risk and make informed technical decisions
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Role Description We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Systems Programmer to support, maintain, and enhance our IBM z/OS mainframe environment. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, and tuning system software and hardware to ensure high availability, performance, and security of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with application development, operations, security, and infrastructure teams to support both production and non-production environments. - Monitor system performance, and resource utilization, diagnose root cause, and remedy. - Shared responsibility for maintaining the z/OS and JES2 software environment. - Work with application programmers to ensure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations. - Provide guidance to application programmers where appropriate. - Assist with the analysis, design, programming, and implementation of internal products. - Develop/maintain/monitor proper system use and security policies and rules. - Create, maintain, and upgrade operating system software for development environments. - Analyze requirements and recommend policies, procedures, and standards for operating system software. - Implement and verify backup and recovery procedures. - Install new z/OS releases as they become available and configure to support Development environments. - Keep supported systems current with the latest maintenance provided by IBM to maintain system reliability and ensure availability. - Be available after hours for emergencies or exceptional situations concerning the mainframe environment. - Resolve any system-related problems that may arise in a timely and efficient manner. Qualifications - Minimum 7 years of experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer. - Strong hands-on experience with IBM z/OS in an enterprise environment. - Deep understanding of JCL, DASDM, catalogs, and VSAM. - Understanding of Parallel Sysplex, Coupling Facilities, shared DASD, and related. - Experience with SMP/E, system upgrades, and maintenance processes. - Solid understanding of JES2, system libraries, and z/OS initialization and configuration. - Solid understanding of the hardware and how it works, including DS8000, VTL, HMC, CSM. - Experience with system IPLs and system recovery activities. - Familiarity with mainframe security concepts and tools (e.g., RACF). - Familiarity with other IBM strategic products such as z/VM, CICS, IMS, DB2. - Ability to produce and review RMF and SMF-based reports. - Knowledge of TCP/IP AT-TLS, encryption, and certificates. - Some programming experience in one of Assembler, Rexx, Python, C, or PL/I would be favorable. - Good understanding of USS, OMVS, and bash-family scripting. - Experience of cloud backups would be useful.
