Role Description Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in residential building services design, looking for the freedom and flexibility of a fully remote role? A fast-growing and forward-thinking building services consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of a diverse and expanding portfolio of residential developments across the UK. This is a senior position within the business, offering full ownership of project delivery from concept through to completion, with a focus on delivering innovative, sustainable, and commercially robust engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities - Lead the mechanical design and delivery of residential building services projects across all RIBA stages - Take full ownership of projects from feasibility and concept design through to construction and handover - Produce and review calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation - Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to engineers across the team - Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, architects, and contractors - Act as a trusted technical advisor, ensuring high-quality and commercially sound outcomes - Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams - Promote sustainable, low-energy, and innovative engineering solutions - Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards Qualifications - A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline - Minimum 6 years’ experience within a building services consultancy - Strong, demonstrable experience in residential project delivery (essential) - Proven ability to lead projects and manage client relationships - Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical design principles, and UK Building Regulations - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - A proactive, self-motivated approach suited to remote working - Chartered status or working towards chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, IET or equivalent) desirable Benefits - Fully remote working anywhere in the UK - Genuine flexibility and autonomy – no office requirement - Opportunity to join a rapidly growing and ambitious consultancy - Lead delivery on a strong pipeline of residential projects nationwide - Collaborative, quality-focused culture with strong technical support - 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays - Clear progression opportunities and long-term career development Interested?
