Job Description

Wind Technician I/II – Traveling Technician

Deriva Energy

• Always maintain a high level of safety awareness • Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily • Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems • Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer • Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures • Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures • Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines • Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation • Maintaining all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner • Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary) within Maximo.

Job Requirements

  • Wind Technician - Level I: High School/GED
  • In addition to the High School/GED requirement, the ability to complete Level I job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year
  • Wind Technician - Level II: High School/GED
  • External Candidates - In addition to the High School/GED requirement, (3+) years of related work experience.
  • Must pass required Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I JPMs within the probationary period.
  • Internal Candidates - In addition to the High School/GED requirement, (1+) year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician.
  • Must also have Turbine Technician-1 and Electrical Operator1 JPM Completed.
  • AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study.
  • Experience with Vestas V82 and V90 turbines
  • Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technologies
  • High voltage and substation maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e., voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Must pass a background check and drug test prior to start date
