Job Description

Power Systems Engineer

K2M Design

• Collects and prepares data/information and performs engineering calculations. • Responsible for the production of drawings that are of high quality consistent, complete, and accurate. • Develops technical specifications & data sheets. • Assists in field work, checking installations, and problem solving activities. • Performs calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews. • Interacts with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information. • Knowledgeable in the design of electrical systems including lighting, power, life safety, security, and communication systems for commercial buildings. • Confers with project staff for resourcing availability. • Coordination between all A/E disciplines on a project. • Ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. • Assist in the preparation of project reports for management, client, or others. • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies. • Construction administration, shop drawings review, response to request for information. • Expands the company’s engineering breadth by growing and maintaining client relationships.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Experience in the field of AEC Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, required.
  • Photometric, SKM Power Tools Software, proficiency required.
  • Experience with Arc Flash or other Power Systems Studies.
  • Revit proficiency, required.

Role Description The Electrical Commissioning Agent II leads with supervision at times and executes commissioning of data center critical systems including generators, switchgears, UPSs, PDUs, and various other equipment. This person is responsible for: - Conducting reviews of client design packages. - Monitoring and analyzing FAT and First of Kind equipment Level 1 thru 5 tests. - Developing O&M documentation to serve as a reference for data center electrical equipment. - Ensuring that testing has been executed and the client's data centers operate at maximum operational efficiency. Essential duties and responsibilities include: - Assisting with managing projects, plans, providing and gathering specifications, and executing assignments in a multidisciplinary engineering commissioning role for large facility projects. - Adhering to a thorough quality management/QC process and procedures. - Participating in daily commissioning activity meetings. - Preparing commissioning test procedures and reports with limited supervision as needed. - Developing and maintaining commissioning logs, equipment checklist, and other tools to track commissioning projects. - Writing comprehensive reports including recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals. - Reviewing design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning. - Conducting integrated system testing and Load Bank Testing. - Developing and administering functional tests for various systems, such as electrical distribution systems, UPS, standby generators, etc. - Helping lead and manage any external resources. - Scheduling and directing periodic commissioning meetings. - Attending construction and coordination meetings if required for the project. - Interfacing with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners’ agents as needed. - Verifying results of test reports and assisting with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment as needed. - Field experience in the operation and application of Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data loggers, and related system testing equipment. Qualifications - 3-5 years’ experience in the Engineering Field. - A/E experience working in complex facilities or mission critical projects is a big plus. - Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience is preferred. - Electrical equipment testing experience in a Critical Facilities / facility environment. - Experience with IEEE/ASHRAE procedures and protocols is a plus. - Possess basic knowledge of systems design for various projects. - Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Up to 75% travel. - Must be a US Citizen. Requirements - Bachelor's / Associates Degree in engineering is a plus or comparable experience.
