Editorial Assistant

• Provide administrative support for editorial director and executive editor, including setting up meetings • Shipping packages, managing the imprint library and backlist • Responding to queries, liaising with other departments, taking minutes, drafting acquisitions memos and P&L’s • Monitoring book production schedules and due dates, running sales and title reports • Prepare and traffic forms and requests related to all parts of the publishing process for the managers • Organizing materials for presentations for internal and external meetings, including sales launch and edit meetings • Maintain professional and responsive communication with authors and agents • Log, read, and evaluate submissions • Provide editorial support such as reading, proofreading, and line editing • Write copy for sales materials, tipsheets, catalogs, book jackets, online feeds, metadata, etc.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proofreading or copy editing experience a plus
- Ability to prioritize, respond to shifting and fast-paced environment, and work independently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace programs
- Demonstrated interest in the children’s book market
- Previous book publishing experience/internships a plus
- Previous media or entertainment experience/internships a plus
