Freelance Social Video Creator – Part-Time
Complex NTWRK
• Create, host, and produce social-first video content for Complex across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms. • Identify trending topics, memes, conversations, and cultural moments that resonate with the Complex audience. • Storyboard, shoot, edit, and publish short-form content optimized for each platform. • Produce approximately 6-8 pieces of short-form video content per week. • Work closely with the social, editorial, video, and design teams to develop engaging audience-first content. • Create content utilizing Meta AI Glasses. • Monitor internet culture, entertainment, music, sports, fashion, and social trends to identify content opportunities. • Create reactive content around viral moments, major events, and breaking cultural conversations. • Participate in creative brainstorms and pitch original content concepts and recurring franchises. • Collaborate with internal teams to support editorial initiatives, events, commerce activations, and brand campaigns. • Assist with community engagement and audience interaction across social platforms. • Track content performance and contribute insights around platform trends and audience behavior. • Help maximize the reach and impact of content through platform-native storytelling and optimization. • Utilize AI and emerging creative tools to improve content production and workflow efficiency.
Job Requirements
- 2+ years of experience creating social content in a media, entertainment, brand, or creator environment.
- Deep understanding of internet culture, social media trends, and the Complex audience.
- Strong on-camera presence and comfort appearing in videos.
- Proven ability to identify emerging trends before they become mainstream.
- Strong storytelling instincts with the ability to develop engaging content from concept through execution.
- Comfortable working independently and moving quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of scripting, shooting, editing, and publishing content end-to-end.
- Experience with CapCut, Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent editing tools.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Passion for social media, digital storytelling, and audience growth.
