Senior Litigation Counsel – Engineering, Construction

• Be a valued and trusted member of the Atlas Legal Department. • Primarily responsible for overseeing and managing all phases of complex engineering, construction, commercial, employment, and certain personal injury/auto/property damage litigation and claims, including early dispute resolution, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and post-trial matters. • Act as the point of contact for litigation, claims, and employment law matters, partnering and coordinating with other members of the Legal Department and the Company. • Engage, manage, and work directly with outside counsel on litigation matters, including selecting and coordinating with outside counsel, managing legal budgets, and driving case strategy. • Draft, review, and negotiate pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other case documents. • Conduct internal investigations, perform legal research, issue and manage litigation holds, manage third party subpoenas, and manage the discovery process, including the production of documents, deposition preparation, and responding to discovery requests. • Communicate routinely and work directly with insurance companies in the handling of litigation matters. • Advise the Company, with the assistance of outside counsel as necessary, on employment related issues and obligations, including internal disputes, wage and hour compliance, and development of HR policies. • Support the health & safety team with OSHA and other regulatory and policy matters, working with outside counsel as necessary. • Deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice with a focus on meeting the Company goals in a legally compliant manner. • Collaborate with other members of the Legal Team to continuously improve the Legal Teams processes and operations. • Assist and support other members of the Legal Department as needed.
Job Requirements
- 8+ years of litigation experience, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of engineering/construction industry experience required.
- Experience in employment law and advising on employment-related issues is a plus.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar.
- Significant experience managing or litigating complex cases in state and/or federal court.
- Both in-house and law firm experience preferred but not necessary.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude who enjoys collaborating with others.
- Ability to manage a large, fast-paced, and dynamic workload with little supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong client-service mentality and excellent work ethic.
