Verification Specialist - Healthcare Insurance

Role Description The Verification Specialist ensures the accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information to support efficient and compliant physical therapy services. This role involves regular communication with internal teams and patients, verifying insurance benefits, and ensuring HIPAA compliance. The position is key to maintaining smooth administrative operations and supporting high-quality patient care. Qualifications - Experience in insurance verification (healthcare setting preferred, physical therapy experience a plus). - Strong understanding of insurance terminology, benefits, and verification procedures. - Clear, professional communication skills (verbal and written) with strong phone etiquette. - Attention to detail and accuracy in all work. - Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize. - Proficiency in computer systems and online insurance portals. - Knowledge and consistent application of HIPAA compliance standards. - Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. - Familiarity with medical and insurance-related terminology. - Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required. - 6–12 months of relevant experience required; 1–3 years in healthcare or a front-office setting preferred. - Experience with EMR systems, insurance verification, and medical billing is a plus. - Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare documentation standards preferred. Role Description We are seeking an experienced Patient Transportation & Insurance Verification Specialist to support the authorization and verification of patient transport services. This role goes beyond basic dispatching. It requires strong critical thinking, ownership, and the ability to navigate complex booking scenarios to ensure every possible avenue is explored to successfully secure transport.
