Role Description We are seeking a Vice President, Head of Data Science & Biostatistics to provide strategic and operational leadership for data sciences across late-stage clinical development for multiple Phase 3 gene trials as well as early stage clinical studies focused on neuromuscular and cardiac diseases. This role will partner cross-functionally to ensure the integrity, rigor, and translational value of clinical data, enabling decisive regulatory, clinical, and commercial outcomes. This leader will oversee a team of biostatisticians and serve as the accountable executive for statistical strategy, data science innovation, and biostatistics integration across clinical programs. The VP will play a critical role in advancing registrational studies, regulatory filings, and lifecycle management while building scalable capabilities to support commercialization and post-marketing evidence generation. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the role will be flexible based on location and alignment with the CMO. Key Position Responsibilities - Define and execute the company’s data science, biostatistics, and biostatistics strategy aligned to Phase 3 execution and regulatory success. - Serve as a core member of the Clinical Leadership Team and partner with the CMO on clinical strategy. - Lead statistical design and execution of Phase 3 trials, including SAPs, protocols, and interim analyses. - Ensure compliance with GCP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory expectations. - Support regulatory submissions (BLA/MAA) and health authority interactions. - Integrate biost and multi-omics data into clinical development. - Advance modern data science approaches, including modeling and AI/ML where appropriate. - Lead and develop a team of 4 biostatisticians. - Lead and develop a team of 3 database managers. - Manage CROs and external partners. - Partner cross-functionally across Clinical, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Commercial. Qualifications - Master’s degree or higher in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field. - 15+ years in biotech/pharma with late-stage clinical experience. - Proven success supporting regulatory submissions and FDA/EMA interactions. - Experience in gene therapy, rare disease, or neuromuscular/cardiac indications preferred. - Expertise in clinical trial design, statistical methods, and regulatory standards. - Strong leadership and communication skills. Balances scientific rigor with speed in a late-stage environment. - Executive Communication & Influence: Distills statistical complexity into concise messaging for the CMO, ELT, and Board; effectively represents the company with regulators and external stakeholders. - Ownership & Accountability: Operates as the single point of accountability for statistical strategy and data integrity; drives critical milestones with urgency and accountability. - Hands-On Leadership in a Lean Environment: Functions as a player-coach, willing to engage deeply in technical work while leading a small, high-impact team and prioritizing effectively. - Talent Development & Team Leadership: Builds, mentors, and retains a high-performing team of biostatisticians; elevates technical rigor, communication, and execution standards. - Cross-Functional Integration: Seamlessly integrates clinical, biostatistics, and translational data; aligns stakeholders across Clinical, Regulatory, and Technical functions. Compensation The base compensation range for this role is: $288,275 - $377,128. Base salary offered is determined through an internal analysis utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
