Job Description

Field Application Engineer – Aerospace & Defense

Emerson

• Engage with Aerospace & Defense customers to understand technical requirements and system-level challenges • Architect and demonstrate solutions for applications involving RF & microwave, radar, electronic warfare, avionics, communications, embedded systems, HIL, and automated validation • Support pre-sales technical activities including customer presentations, solution demonstrations, workshops, benchmarking, and proof-of-concepts • Work closely with Account Managers to drive technical wins and accelerate business growth • Collaborate with System Integrators and ecosystem partners to support scalable deployment models • Design and recommend architectures using modular instrumentation, PXI platforms, automated test software, and validation frameworks • Provide technical consultation on system integration, automation strategies, and test methodologies • Support customer onboarding, implementation guidance, and technical issue resolution • Work cross-functionally with R&D, product teams, services, and global application engineering teams • Track emerging Aerospace & Defense technology trends and customer requirements to influence future solution strategies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is mandatory (Electronics, Electrical, ECE, Instrumentation, Aerospace, or related disciplines preferred)
  • 6–10 years of experience in application engineering, systems engineering, validation, or technical consulting within Aerospace & Defense or related industries
  • Strong technical understanding of automated test and validation systems
  • Experience with RF test, radar systems, avionics, embedded systems, communications, or HIL environments
  • Ability to understand and architect complex system-level solutions
  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams, customers, and partners
  • Willingness to travel based on project and customer requirements
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with technical curiosity
  • Ability to engage deeply with customer engineering teams
  • Passion for solving real-world engineering challenges
  • Strong ownership and execution orientation
