Senior Manager, Aerospace Defense – Government Outsourcing

• Manage end‑to‑end accounting operations for a portfolio of government contracting clients, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant delivery. • Collaborate with CFO Advisors to help clients understand their financial results and plan for growth. • Staff Management and Development • Provide mentoring and one-to-one training for individual staff members. • Be available to answer questions and provide solutions as needed. • Provide feedback (positive and negative) to partner and director regarding staff issues. • Help to foster a collaborative team environment. • Manage day‑to‑day outsourced accounting services for assigned government contracting clients. • Own project management of accounting deliverables, schedules, and month‑end close. • Oversee and manage audits and reviews (DCAA, CPA, incurred cost submissions, etc.). • Develop and manage indirect rate structures, budgets, forecasts, and cost submissions. • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including variance and trend analysis. • Identify and resolve accounting, system, and process issues. • Prepare clear, client‑ready summaries of results, forecasts, and improvement opportunities. • Partner with CEOs and leadership teams on financial decision‑making and scenario analysis, in conjunction with CFO Advisors. • Manage work with limited oversight, exercising sound judgment and initiative. • Review and oversee the work of support staff to ensure accuracy and quality.
Job Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within government contracting
- Prior experience working for or with government contractors
- Hands‑on experience with Unanet, Costpoint, QuickBooks, or similar job‑cost accounting systems (required)
- Strong command of general ledger accounting, job costing, and GAAP
- Working knowledge of FAR requirements, DCAA compliance, and indirect rate structures
- Experience managing audits and interacting with external auditors
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and client‑service skills — able to translate numbers into insights
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to oversee, review, and ensure the quality of work performed by others
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
