• Responsible for reconciling bank accounts, including operating and trust accounts, and resolving all reconciling items monthly • Analyzes the discrepancy to determine root cause to prevent future discrepancies • Coordinates with various Firm departments and Financial Services Teams to correctly post transactions and ensure accuracy • Responsible for entering monthly journal entries for the G/L Team • Responsible for analyzing the G/L monthly to identify improper coding • Review monthly P&L, investigate variances from budget • Ensure transactions are consistently recorded across offices, departments, and accounting periods • Review general ledger every month for all accounts and reclassify transactions recorded incorrectly and as approved by management • Prepare monthly financial statements/general ledger detail and distribute them to approved personnel only • Assist in preparation of year-end work papers used for review/audit by outside accounting firm
Job Requirements
- Finance or Accounting related college degree required
- Minimum of three years of experience in either an external audit or accounting position
- Experience with a 'Big 4' accounting firm or law firm is preferred
- Ability to organize, prioritize and delegate to ensure the smooth operation of the department
- Ability to analyze and assess possible problems, prioritize concerns and make decisions
- Ability to adapt schedule to changing work load requirements and lead by personal example
- Ability to interface with partners, associates, clients, vendors, directors, managers and support staff
- Skills to coordinate various resources to help others meet their objectives
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
