VP Underwriter, Financial Institutions Professional Lines, US
Convex Insurance
• Actively manage the screening, evaluation, and pricing of high-complexity risks, including banks, asset managers, hedge funds, and private equity firms. • Proactively market the firm's FI capabilities to major brokerage houses and leverage existing relationships to solicit high-quality new business submissions. • Act as a "referral point" for complex technical queries, providing expert judgment on policy wording, terms, and conditions to ensure profitability. • Work directly with executive leadership to refine the FI underwriting framework, risk appetite, and long-term growth strategies. • Represent the company at industry events and client-facing due diligence meetings to build the brand's presence in the specialty insurance market.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of technical underwriting experience specifically within the Financial Institutions sector (D&O, E&O, Fiduciary, etc.).
- A demonstrated track record of building and maintaining a profitable book of business through active broker solicitation and negotiation.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; professional certifications relative to the position are a plus.
- Expert-level ability to analyze complex financial statements and credit risk profiles.
- Superior negotiation skills with the ability to structure creative solutions for non-standard risks.
- Demonstrates a self-motivated "hunter" mentality with the ability to operate autonomously.
- Tech-savvy, highly organized, great with data, and comfortable navigating MS Office, cloud based apps, and digital filing systems.
- Asks probing questions and challenges conventional thinking to drive innovation.
- Possesses a growth mindset, conducting independent research to deepen knowledge and solve complex problems.

Contract Specialist

• Perform pre-award acquisition activities, including acquisition planning, market research, development of procurement strategies, and coordination with engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, transportation, natural resources, and other program areas to develop solicitations, statements of work, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations for Bids (IFBs). • Manage the competitive bid process, including preparation and issuance of RFPs and IFBs, coordinating pre-bid meetings and site visits, evaluating bids and proposals, performing price and cost analyses, conducting negotiations, preparing award recommendations, and executing contracts. • Administer contracts throughout the contract lifecycle, including negotiating contract terms and conditions, processing modifications, responding to audit requests, resolving contractual issues, and ensuring contractor compliance with contractual requirements. • Review invoices, progress reports, and supporting documentation to ensure timely processing and compliance with contract terms, funding limitations, and reporting requirements. • Prepare, administer and manage Task Order contracts and individual task orders, including monitoring performance, labor rates, reimbursable costs, and contract deliverables. • Monitor compliance with applicable labor standards, including Davis-Bacon Act and Service Contract Act requirements, where applicable. • Perform contract close out activities, including resolution of outstanding contract issues, review and approval of final invoices, completion of contractor performance evaluations and maintenance of contract files in accordance with records management requirements. • Other duties as assigned
