Job Description

Senior Revenue Growth Specialist

News Revenue Hub

• Identify revenue growth opportunities and diagnose blockers for Hub client organizations • Design and run revenue-oriented projects, sprints, and experiments • Help organizations diversify revenue and reduce dependence on any single funding source • Deliver strategic presentations and revenue assessments to clients and leadership teams • Provide accurate and actionable strategic guidance grounded in data and industry context • Audit and refine existing Hub services and documentation within your focus areas – regularly making improvements based on new learnings and experiments • Retire or adapt services that no longer drive value– with support of leadership team • Pitch new service offerings internally, based on your findings from sprints and experiments with clients • Manage timelines and milestones for client projects • Coordinate and communicate with other consulting specialists and the senior director of consulting ensuring seamless client experience • Share insights and learnings internally to strengthen cross-team knowledge • Delegate task work relevant to your sprints or projects, when applicable, to other Hub team members or to contractors to ensure quality control • Serve as an in-house expert in your focus areas • Represent NRH at conferences, webinars, and in prospective client conversations • Help position NRH as a leader in revenue diversification for news organizations • Moving forward sprints and projects with client organizations—keeping tabs on timelines, communicating with clients, and documenting milestones • Executing ‘big picture’ deliverables within your focus areas • Liaising with other members of the Hub team when handoffs are needed or when support is needed that doesn’t fall under your direct purview • Sharing learnings in the Hub Slack space with other Hub team members and clients when applicable • May be called upon to aid in hiring and onboarding, training, and mentorship of employees and contractors as related to this role

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in one or more of the following revenue areas in journalism or nonprofits: membership or small dollar fundraising, major donor management or cultivation, corporate philanthropy, advertising, or events.
  • Comfort with data and analytics. You can review a data set—website traffic, revenue, list growth—and not only understand it but see trends and opportunities within and translate those things to others.
  • Demonstrable experience leading, developing and executing revenue strategy in a professional environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to new situations, solve problems on the fly, and communicate with those around you. Teamwork and resourcefulness required, and confidence to ask for advice when needed
  • An ability to move between the big picture and the day-to-day and to help newsroom staffers do the same.
  • Empathy, communication, respect, patience, and a willingness to help out, whether it's the Hub, a member you serve, or someone else!
  • The ability to self-motivate, self-manage and work remotely.
