Role Description As an Android Engineer at Sporty you’ll be responsible for applying the latest and greatest technologies and frameworks to ensure a smooth user experience for a massive user base. What you'll be doing - Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers and Backend Engineers to design and deliver high-quality products on Android - Build end-to-end features of the app: networking, persistence, business logic, and UI - Build efficient and reusable mobile components and architect reliable, performant, and scalable mobile solutions - Identify areas of improvement and advocate for mobile best practices - Analyze and optimize UI and infrastructure application code for quality, efficiency, and performance - Mentoring less experienced team members Qualifications - 4+ years of application development experience in Android - Proficiency with Java, Kotlin and the Android development ecosystem - Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between - Understand and have experience making decisions about mobile application architecture, including data modeling, networking and data synchronization and concurrency - Experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques - Experience with multithreading programming and mobile memory management - Good communication and collaboration skills to be able to work in a fast paced and distributed environment - Previous history of working with a remote, distributed team would be beneficial Benefits - Sporty is a remote first company in pursuit of sustainability - A competitive salary + individual performance based bonuses every quarter - 28 days paid annual leave - Our core working hours are 10am-3pm in your local time zone with flexibility outside of this - Referral bonuses & flash bonuses - Top of the line equipment - Annual company retreats to provide great internal networking opportunities Interview Process - Remote video screening with our Talent Acquisition Team - Offline Take home assignment - Remote video interview with Team Members (60 Mins) - Final discussion with the hiring manager (60 mins)

This is a remote position, and candidates must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of our office locations in Allen, TX; Cedar Falls, IA; Charlotte, NC; Birmingham, AL; Louisville, KY; Lenexa, KS; Springfield, MO; or Monett, MO. The salary range for this position is $80,350- $120,000 and will be determined based on location and experience level. All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity. What you'll be responsible for: - Completes product technical design and prototyping, software development, bug verification and resolution. - Performs system analysis and programming activities which may require research and timely, effective, and quality delivery of software into production. - Provides technical/engineering support for new and existing applications from code delivery until the retirement of the application. - Develops and tests applications based on business requirements and industry best practices. - Uses best practices and standard guidance to create and modify code. Considers how code changes will affect end users and internal teams. - Collaborates with QA team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products. - Participates in cross team projects as needed. • Works on critical tasks and deliverables with minimal assistance, and sets and updates expectations on size, scope, and timelines. - May represent team in cross-team meetings and discussions. - Adheres to documented departmental and corporate standards. Participates in the definition and documentation of standards. - Performs other duties as assigned. - Plans unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of developed software. - Debugs and troubleshoots issues as they arise, providing timely resolutions. - May perform other job duties as assigned. What you'll need to have: - Minimum of 4 years of experience of Android engineering, including experience with Java and/or Kotlin. - Minimum of 18 months of experience of Android engineering. - Knowledge of the Android ecosystem including applications, deployments, and security.
