Role Description This position is the senior accountable leader responsible for end-to-end value realization of the EHR transformation program, from discovery through post–go-live optimization. This role represents Fresenius Kidney Care and is the business lead responsible for a successful EHR implementation across FKC nationally. They own the program charter, success metrics, business case realization, and enterprise roadmap, ensuring alignment between vendor capabilities, system integrator delivery, and FME operational outcomes. This leader acts as the bridge between strategy, operations, and technology, ensuring the EHR transformation delivers measurable clinical, operational, and financial outcomes across a complex, federated care delivery environment. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, information technology, health informatics, or a related field. - Masters’ Degree preferred. - Certifications or Health IT credentials (e.g., CPHIMSSM, CAHIMS) preferred. Requirements - Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience which includes 5+ years senior management experience. - Strong business acumen. Prior experience in a large distributed workforce within a matrixed environment. - Excellent planning, organization, analysis, and problem-solving skills. - Proven leadership ability, excellent facilitation skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Enterprise Program Leadership & Governance - Own the overall EHR program charter, including scope, objectives, success criteria, and governance model. - Establish and lead program governance structures (Steering Committees, Operational Committees, decision frameworks). - Serve as the primary escalation point for cross-functional risks, trade-offs, and decisions. - Ensure alignment across clinical, operations, ITS, finance, and executive leadership. - Value Realization & Business Case Ownership - Own the end-to-end business case, including financial model, investment thesis, and benefit tracking. - Define and track value realization metrics (e.g., productivity gains, revenue recovery, patient growth, retention) aligned with program goals. - Ensure realization of targeted outcomes such as: - Clinical workflow optimization - Revenue cycle improvement - Productivity and labor efficiency gains - Lead value tracking cadence post go-live to prevent value leakage and drive optimization. - Strategy, Roadmap, & Transformation Design - Define and maintain the multi-year EHR transformation roadmap (2026–2029+). - Translate enterprise strategy into sequenced implementation phases and milestones. - Ensure alignment of: - Clinical workflows - Digital strategy - Data/analytics roadmap - Population health and VBC strategy - Drive clarity on what is standardized vs. customized vs. externalized (AI, automation, middleware). - Vendor & Partner Alignment - Act as the senior interface between FME and EHR vendor(s) and system integrators. - Ensure vendor commitments are translated into operationally viable workflows and outcomes. - Challenge vendor designs to avoid over-customization and protect upgradability. - Align SI-led architecture/design work with enterprise standards and business priorities. - Operational Integration & Workflow Alignment - Ensure EHR design reflects future-state clinical and operational workflows, not legacy processes. - Bridge gaps between: - Vendor standard capabilities - Clinical/operational requirements - Federated regional variations - Drive workflow standardization at scale (2,700+ clinics) while respecting necessary variation. - Cross-Functional Leadership - Lead and align senior leaders across: - Clinical Informatics - Revenue Cycle - Operations (Dialysis, CKD, Care Coordination) - ITS / Architecture / Integration - Data & Analytics - Partner closely with: - ITS Program Director (delivery execution) - PMO Lead (program management rigor) - Clinical Informatics Executive (clinical design authority) - Risk Management & Decision Support - Identify and mitigate risks across: - Implementation timeline - Business case assumptions - Workflow adoption - Vendor delivery - Support executive decision-making on: - Vendor selection - Investment approval milestones (MB / SVB) - Scope prioritization and sequencing - Post-Go-Live Optimization & Continuous Improvement - Transition program from implementation to optimization and value capture. - Ensure establishment of: - KPI tracking framework - Continuous improvement backlog - Governance for enhancements and releases - Drive long-term outcomes across: - Patient experience - Clinical quality - Cost-to-serve reduction - Ensure that budgets and schedules are within company requirements with significant organizational responsibility for the overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, expense priority management, and the recommendation and implementation of current practices. - Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations. - Ensure all employees within the assigned team(s) understand and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations; establishing and maintaining effective internal systems and controls to promote compliance. - Interacts with all levels of the organization to manage the business.
