In this highly visible, field-active role, you will serve as the primary EHS authority for a team of 500+ electrical and mechanical commissioning agents working on mission-critical data center construction projects across the United States. You will partner directly with electrical contractors, client stakeholders, and our internal commissioning leads to drive a culture of safety from construction start through turnover. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of EH&S for the Americas and carries significant influence over how safety programs are built, communicated, and enforced across medium & high-voltage, high-stakes commissioning environments across Salute’s contract portfolio. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES - Provide EH&S oversight and direct leadership for 500+ electrical and mechanical commissioning agents across active data center construction sites - Develop, implement, and maintain written electrical safety programs aligned with NFPA 70E, OSHA 1926, and client-specific requirements - Conduct regular site visits, safety audits, and field inspections at data center commissioning sites, approximately 50% travel and 50% non-travel remote work - Serve as the primary EH&S SME to electrical contractors, enforcing safe work practices during energization, switchgear testing, and commissioning activities - Interface directly with clients and owner representatives to communicate EH&S program status, findings, and corrective actions - Perform and document arc flash and shock hazard risk assessments; review and approve Energized Electrical Work Permits (EEWPs) - Develop and deliver electrical safety training for commissioning technicians, subcontractors, and field personnel of diverse trades and backgrounds - Investigate near-misses and incidents; lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) tracking across all assigned projects - Enforce Stop Work Authority rights for all team members with retaliation or pushback - Ensure full regulatory compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, and applicable local codes at all project sites REQUIREMENTS - Associate's or bachelor’s degree in EH&S or Occupational Safety & Health with 7-10 years’ experience as an EH&S professional - OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (required or obtain within 90 days of hire, paid by Salute) - Experience developing and administering written safety programs for construction or industrial environments - Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70E and OSHA 1910.269 / 1926 Subpart K electrical safety standards - Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening - Must physically be able to walk construction sites on uneven surfaces, scaffolding, fixed ladders, 2-3 flights of stairs and work in hot and cold outdoors conditions - Proven ability to lead and influence a large, geographically distributed workforce across diverse trades and experience levels - Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client-facing reporting and field-level interactions - Willingness to travel ~50% domestically, for site visits. 50% remote non-travel work - Proficiency with safety management software, audit tools, and Microsoft Office Suite - CPR/First Aid/AED certification with knowledge of electrical injury response protocols PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Technician (CEST): strongly preferred; or must be able to obtain within 9 months of hire if not already held (paid for by Salute) - Direct experience supporting electrical commissioning on mission-critical or data center construction projects - Familiarity with data center electrical infrastructure: switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, generators, medium-voltage distribution, and BMS/EMS integration - Background working with Commissioning agents, owner's representatives, or general contractors on hyperscale or enterprise data center builds PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50lbs. - Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment - Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments - Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks - Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly - Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies. - Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors - Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses - Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables - Ability to work in environments with a wide variety of temperatures inside a facility - Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow - Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection - Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required If you are a motivated and results-driven individual with a passion for data center services and a knack for building strong client relationships, we want to hear from you.
