The Trade Surveillance Associate will be responsible for trade surveillance for Coinbase on an ongoing basis. This person will help the Trade Surveillance team monitor markets, investigate any suspicious trading behavior, and leverage various surveillance technologies to help keep Coinbase the most trusted platform in the space. This position will be remote but should anticipate some travel. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): Conduct daily, weekly and monthly monitoring of trade surveillance and develop and implement surveillance reports as required Review and investigate alerts generated by surveillance systems and properly escalate as necessary Assist in new asset launches and monitoring market depth and liquidity relative to other assets and exchanges; perform market assessments for new asset launches and relaunches following trading halts Perform other aspects of Compliance, where needed Keep abreast of regulatory and market structure changes that may affect our markets and the scope of the existing surveillance program Work with engineering and support staff to create process efficiencies and improvements Enforce and enhance policies and procedures related to Coinbase Trading operations and Trading Rules Engage with Coinbase personnel related to Coinbase Trading Policies Collaborate with other key compliance individuals and separate Coinbase business lines on compliance investigations Work on ad-hoc inquiries, special projects, or regulatory requests What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $108,630 — $127,800 USD Please be advised that each candidate may submit a maximum of four applications within any 30-day period. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years relevant experience in market surveillance and or trading capacity
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Excellent analytical and critical reasoning skills, and a quick learner; demonstrate Coinbase values
  • Knowledge of market structure
  • Cross functional experience as well as proficient with creation and management of policies and procedures
  • Experience in leveraging AI tools for research, problem-solving, and optimizing workflows
  • Ability to act like an owner, i.e. manage and drive projects and seek continuous improvement
  • Ability to problem solve and excel in a fast paced environment
  • Nice to haves:
  • Knowledge of blockchain, cryptocurrency ecosystems, and DeFi
  • FINRA Series or other relevant certifications
  • Knowledge of related Compliance functions (e.g. AML, Employee Control Room Compliance)
  • Ability to query and manage data (e.g. SQL)
