Role Description Represent clients in all areas of family law, including: - Divorce - Child custody - Parenting time - Child support - Spousal support/alimony - Prenuptial agreements Prepare and draft legal documents including: - Pleadings - Motions - Marital settlement agreements - Contracts - Judgments - Orders across a high volume of cases Appear in court on behalf of clients as needed, presenting arguments clearly and persuasively even in emotionally charged situations. Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to move files efficiently through the civil litigation process. Analyze complex family situations, develop strategy, and advocate effectively for each client's unique needs. Manage and maintain client files with accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail. Handle matters involving sensitive issues including child abuse, domestic violence, and high-conflict custody with professionalism and composure. This position is fundamentally responsible for helping clients make strategic decisions in hiring employees, determining what visas to apply for, and the best way to secure those benefits. They will collaborate with other attorneys and paralegals to prepare and review petitions to the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Labor, and the Department of State. The job is fast-paced, and a Senior Associate Attorney may work on many different client matters per day. A significant part of the job is responding to communication from clients by email and phone. Location: Offered in Chicago and remotely Availability: Immediate Full-Time - New hires located outside of Chicago are expected to report to the Chicago office for one week upon starting for in-person training. - Remote employees are expected to come to Chicago once per quarter for firm events. The firm will cover the cost of travel. • The Contract Attorney will independently provide interim legal support to SMA America's legal department during a planned leave of absence. • This position will provide legal analysis and advice, assess the legal consequences of business decisions, and monitor business transactions and projects for compliance and potential risks. • The Contract Attorney will focus primarily on procurement contracts in the solar and energy sector, OEM and white label agreements, distributor agreements, and antitrust matters arising from distributor relationships. • As an integral member of the procurement and contract management functions, this role will support the contract lifecycle from requests for proposals through contract execution, coordinating with all relevant internal functions and managing complex commercial contracts under the direction of the General Counsel.
