Field Service Technician I
LB Foster
• Traveling on a weekly basis to deliver company products, fill customer silos, provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting / repair and customer training support for all LB Foster friction management lubricators • Extensive travel to work sites throughout North America is required on a weekly basis • Liaise with external customers and internal company departments for product development and relationship-building initiatives • Ability to work outdoors on railway tracks under a variety of weather conditions • Responsible for managing personal travel expense account, individual or company-supplied mechanics tools, company-issued credit cards where applicable • Handles basic issues and problems, refers more complex issues to higher-level staff • All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- 0-2 years of hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, electrical experience preferred
- Boom crane experience a plus
- Require valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract
- E-Railsafe required upon hire, plus other customer-based training as may be required to access work sites
- Experience using basic hand and power tools
- Hydraulic and transfer pump experience a plus
- Strong communication (verbal and computer) and time management skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, etc.) a plus
- A high degree of reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are critical attributes for this position.
- Sound writing skills for work report submissions
- Ability and willingness to follow all applicable safety and operating rules for client railways in a professional and conscientious manner.
- Must wear Personnel Protective Equipment PPE (Hard Hat, Safety glasses, Gloves and Hearing protection as required).

• Demonstrate the ability to diagnose errors, technical problems and determine proper solutions. • Demonstrate good electronic and mechanical repair troubleshooting methodology and maintain technical product knowledge. • Document and produce timely and detailed service reports. • A willingness to exceed company and customer requirements. • Responsive to customer needs and building a positive relationship. • Ensure all tools and calibrated equipment are properly maintained at all times. • Meet daily service needs at assigned sites and locations • Ability to plan and perform repairs and preventative maintenance independently in the field. • Able to schedule work based on field needs
• Responsible for developing and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships with customer representatives • Ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining all equipment models specific to a modality or modalities in the assigned area • Total system level trouble-shooting on complex multi-symptom problems • Daily interface with doctors and technicians on equipment status issues • Act to ensure satisfaction to primary customers • Assist in Account Sales visits; helps train others where necessary; identify Sales opportunities and communicate to account team • Assist in the growth and direction of business in his/her geographic area • Responsible for Warranty and PMS contract cost control • Complete all administration tasks on time • Ensure timely completion of FMIs and PMS inspections documentation for assigned accounts • Play a leading role in complex and multifunctional rooms • Share best practices • Maintain effective quality systems and programs compliant with ISO 9001 standard
