Senior Manager Financial Planning and Analysis

Lumen Technologies

Role Description Lumen is seeking a Senior Manager, FP&A to support financial leadership for the Technology and Product organization. This is not a traditional reporting role. This role acts as a true extension of senior finance leadership, helping drive clarity, insight, and action across a broad, complex, and evolving set of priorities tied to technology investment and product performance. This individual will operate at the center of a highly matrixed environment, working across Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to gather inputs, challenge assumptions, and assemble a clear, decision-grade financial view. They will take fragmented, sometimes incomplete data and translate it into structured analysis, compelling storytelling, and executive-ready materials that enable faster, higher-confidence decisions. Work Location Fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. Main Responsibilities - Build and maintain clear, integrated financial views across capital investment, operating expense, cash, and product performance, ensuring consistency, transparency, and alignment across multiple data sources. - Develop and enforce product-level P&L governance, including consistent definitions, allocation methodologies, and clear accountability across Product, Technology, and Finance. - Serve as the connector across a matrixed organization, partnering with multiple finance and business teams to gather inputs, reconcile differences, and create a single, credible view of performance and outlook. - Lead the development of executive presentations end-to-end by orchestrating inputs across teams, guiding what is needed, pushing on gaps, and shaping a clear, cohesive storyline for leadership. - Translate complex and fragmented inputs into concise, structured narratives that highlight performance, risks, tradeoffs, and recommended actions for senior leadership. - Lead forecasting, scenario analysis, and ad hoc modeling related to product investments, cost structure, portfolio decisions, and business performance. - Identify where product and technology economics are improving or deteriorating, and help leadership understand where to invest, accelerate, pause, or pivot. - Bring discipline and follow-through to operating rhythms including monthly reviews, variance analysis, and leadership deliverables. - Coach and support team members while elevating standards for modeling, analysis, and communication. What Success Looks Like - Senior leaders are consistently prepared with clear, actionable insights and materials that drive decisions. - Product-level financials are transparent, governed, and trusted, with clear alignment across teams. - Executive presentations are sharp, cohesive, and easy to follow, with a clear storyline and recommended actions. - Work moves forward even in ambiguity, with fewer gaps, faster turnaround, and less rework across teams. - The organization experiences stronger alignment, improved decision speed, and increased confidence in financial insights. Qualifications - 7–10+ years of FP&A experience supporting complex product, technology, or engineering organizations. - Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis capabilities. - Experience with product-level financials and P&L governance. - Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment and influence without direct authority. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complexity into clear, executive-level insights. - Comfortable working in ambiguity with a resourceful, creative, and solutions-oriented mindset. - Ability to proactively identify gaps, pursue the right inputs, and deliver thoughtful recommendations. Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. - $132,232 - $176,310 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, WY - $138,844 - $185,124 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, RI - $145,456 - $193,940 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, WA Benefits - Lumen offers a comprehensive package featuring a broad range of Health, Life, Voluntary Lifestyle benefits and other perks that enhance your physical, mental, emotional and financial wellbeing.
