Role Description EMIDS is at an inflection point. We are a 2000-person healthcare technology and consulting firm in the middle of a bold pivot to an AI-native "Service as a Software" model. Our platform ecosystem, including Pacca Platform, is live and evolving fast. We are looking for a VP of AI Engineering and Solutions who can do what very few people in this industry can: build real AI products at speed and then walk into a room with a healthcare CxOs and make them believe. This is not a traditional engineering leadership role. It sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and revenue. You will own our AI solutions practice end to end, co-sell with our sales team, run rapid prototypes that close deals, and lead a team spanning Product Management and Product Development Life cycles. You will lead a team of Forward Deploy Context Engineers (FDCEs) who will build next generation AI solutions for our customers. What You Will Do - Drive Revenue Through Engineering - Co-sell alongside account executives and sales leaders at healthcare payors and providers - Lead live demos and proof-of-concept builds that directly influence deal outcomes - Translate complex AI capabilities into compelling, accessible value propositions for C-suite buyers - Own 70% of your time on customer-facing solutioning, prototyping, and presales engineering - Build Fast, Build Right - Rapid prototype AI-powered solutions using modern toolchains including Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, Bolt, and similar platforms - Lead solutioning of AI SDLC and AI product management engagements for customers - Architect and own EMIDS's internal AI-native development practices and delivery frameworks - Balance speed-to-demo with production-grade engineering standards across the 30% internal build portfolio - Lead a High-Performing Team - Directly manage and grow the organization across product management, product and software development lifecycle - Set engineering culture, hiring bar, and delivery standards for the AI practice - Partner with the Chief AI Officer to evolve EMIDS's platform portfolio and internal tooling - Build and mentor a team of forward deployed engineers who blend technical depth with client presence - Shape the Practice - Define and refine EMIDS's AI PDLC / SDLC and AI product management offerings - Develop repeatable demo assets, solution templates, and IP that accelerate the sales cycle - Contribute to positioning, thought leadership, and go-to-market strategy for the AI practice Qualifications - Proven ability to build AI-powered applications from rapid prototype through production - Champion a culture where every practitioner builds; leading by example with regular prototypes shared internally and externally - Hands-on fluency with modern AI development tools: Cursor, Claude Code, Bolt, Replit, or equivalent - Consulting DNA: you have worked in a forward deployed or client-facing engineering capacity - Track record of influencing revenue: demos that closed, prototypes that won, deals you shaped - Leadership experience managing cross-functional product and design teams - Entrepreneurial drive: you move fast, you build things, you take ownership - Based in the United States with the ability to travel frequently to client sites Requirements - Strong Plus: Healthcare domain knowledge across payor or provider systems (not required but valued) - Experience building AI agents, agentic workflows, or LLM-powered products - Background in platform or product companies with a commercial engineering mindset - Prior experience at a management consulting or technology consulting firm What Success Looks Like In your first 90 days, you are in front of customers building demos and co-selling. Within six months, you have shipped repeatable AI solution templates and contributed to closed revenue. Within a year, the AI Engineering practice is known inside EMIDS and in the market as the team that builds things that win deals and delivers things that actually work. Compensation and Benefits - Competitive base salary benchmarked to VP-level engineering and consulting roles - Performance bonus tied to revenue and practice growth metrics - Equity participation reflects the entrepreneurial nature of this role - Full benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) - Travel budget and tools stipend to support your client-facing work
