Role Description We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Business Development to join our growing team. This individual will partner with the Chief Growth Officer, Business Development team, and Division Presidents to create, lead, and execute the organization's Business Development strategy. This individual will be responsible for expanding our business and driving revenue by developing and executing strategies that increase our visibility in the retail sales industry. The right candidate for this role must possess a strong ability to develop and nurture impactful relationships, manage the sales life cycle with proven closing capability, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues across the organization. - Create and execute business development strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives, incorporating multi-channel retail trends, consumers, and the competitive landscape. - Serve as thought leader and consultant for internal and external teams on emerging trends and innovation, vetting strategic ideas, forecasting trends, partnering to identify growth opportunities, and developing plans for initiatives, including new product development, extensions into new categories, and new distribution segments. - Actively promote TBG’s brand and expertise through participation in industry events, trade shows, conferences, etc., to increase the visibility of the organization and generate new business. - Proactively translate trend and market insights into action by providing a strategic viewpoint and recommendations derived from various business intelligence sources (trend identification, data, consumer research, competitive landscape, analytics) to identify opportunity gaps, new business potential, and help influence decision-making and action planning for new and existing vendor strategies that drive retail sales and growth. - Build and manage relationships with new and existing vendors, retailers, and internal teams to influence strategy and decisions, and identify and develop new business opportunities. Qualifications - Experience working with a fast-paced, innovative consumer business supporting strategic new business development and growth; 7+ years agency or CPG experience is required. - Experience working with multiple leading retailers and platforms is preferred. - Strong strategic thinking and conceptual skills, including the ability to translate trends, consumer research, and observations into actionable opportunities. - Aggressive self-starter that works well with direction from the team and can independently develop, articulate, and execute strategy. - Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and work with counterparts across the organization to collaborate and provide strategy recommendations that are complementary to growth objectives. - Proven ability to sell and close deals with potential clients. - Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, drawing upon a large network of relationships across multiple categories, companies, and brands. - Demonstrated passion for product, trend, and innovation with strong market knowledge of the retail sector and channels, including digital and e-commerce. - Must be comfortable with ambiguity and the constant change that comes with operating in the fast-moving, ever-changing world of retail. - Ability to effectively utilize data and insights to build compelling sales stories; can communicate key information, deliver presentations, and influence both internal and external audiences. - Strong organizational and project management skills, with exceptional attention to detail. - Expertise in all Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. - Willingness to travel.
