Job Description
Senior Frontend Engineer – Shopify
AOA
• Deliver high-quality, high-performing eCommerce frontend experiences that AOA is known for, with predictability, agentic-efficiency, and collaborative ownership. • Build production-grade storefronts in React and modern headless commerce frameworks such as Shopify Hydrogen. • Develop and customize classic Shopify: Liquid themes, apps, Checkout Extensions, and store configuration. • Serve as AOA's Shopify technical lead: set the Shopify standard, review and oversee Shopify work, and be the platform authority the team relies on. • Lead Shopify migrations and establish CI/CD and deployment pipelines for themes and apps. • Turn product-level objectives into clear, actionable engineering tasks and own the technical approach. • Translate Figma designs into reusable storefront components and design-system primitives that help the team ship faster. • Connect storefronts to commerce and content APIs, handling variants, inventory, pricing, loading, errors, empty states, and partial data. • Plan and sequence your work across multiple client projects, bringing recommendations rather than open-ended problems. • Write tested, maintainable TypeScript that follows each client codebase's conventions. • Self-review your work and catch issues before QA, with particular care on revenue-bearing flows. • Conduct code reviews and hold the bar on quality across the work you review. • Use AI coding tools and agents thoughtfully while keeping engineering judgment in control. • Communicate proactively across a remote team, sharing progress and surfacing risks early.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years building production frontend applications, with deep, current React and TypeScript expertise.
- 4+ years building and owning Shopify experience across classic and headless builds.
- Prior experience working in an agency environment and as an independent contractor, with the ability to manage multiple clients or projects in parallel.
- Strong experience on enterprise-grade accounts, products, or projects.
- Strong experience in Liquid theme development (Online Store 2.0), Shopify apps, Checkout Extensions, store configuration, and migrations.
- Experience as the senior technical authority on Shopify: setting the standard, reviewing and overseeing others' Shopify work, and owning CI/CD and version control for themes or apps.
- A track record of owning storefront features end-to-end, from ambiguous requirements to production.
- Strong frontend fundamentals: semantic HTML, modern CSS, responsive design, accessibility, and browser behavior.
- Experience translating Figma designs into accurate, responsive, accessible interfaces.
- Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs (Storefront API or similar) and managing client and server state, including cart.
- A strong quality discipline: typed, tested code and self-review before QA.
- Ability to estimate your work, commit within a delivery cycle, and reliably deliver.
- Excellent professional English, spoken and written, with reliable overlap with standard US Central Time business hours.
- Fluent, practical use of AI coding tools as part of your engineering workflow.
- Based in Latin America and able to work as an independent contractor.

Role Description We're hiring a Shopify Plus Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of website builds, redesigns, and CRO projects for fast-growing eCommerce brands. You'll sit at the center of every project — managing clients, driving cross-functional teams, and keeping scope, timelines, and budgets locked in. This is a client-facing, outcome-owning role — not a coordinator seat. You'll be expected to bring structure, judgment, and proactive communication from day one. What You'll Own - Lead full-cycle Shopify Plus site builds and redesigns from kickoff to launch - Run weekly client calls, manage expectations, and keep stakeholders aligned - Translate client goals into clear project plans, sprint priorities, and delivery milestones - Coordinate internal designers, developers, QA, and email teams across time zones - Maintain clean scope documentation — catch and escalate drift before it becomes a problem - Track velocity, blockers, and deliverables using tools like Asana, ClickUp, or Trello - Manage 3–5 active projects simultaneously without dropping balls This Role Is NOT For You If… - Your Shopify experience is limited to basic theme edits or template stores - You've only worked in-house or as a solo freelancer — agency pace and multi-client juggling is different - You need rigid process handbooks to do your job - You're uncomfortable owning client relationships directly Qualifications - 2–4 years of project management experience at a digital or web agency — not in-house, not freelance-only - Hands-on experience managing Shopify Plus builds — you understand themes, custom dev workflows, app integrations, and launch QA - Direct client communication experience — you've run calls, delivered hard news, and managed scope pushback professionally - Strong understanding of eCommerce and DTC brand operations — you know what a high-converting PDP looks like and why AOV matters - Proficiency with PM tools: ClickUp, Asana, Trello, Slack (daily use, not just awareness) - Comfortable working remotely and async across US time zones Requirements - Experience with CRO strategy or A/B testing frameworks - Familiarity with Klaviyo or eCommerce email automation flows - Agile / Scrum background with backlog management experience - Exposure to BigCommerce or headless commerce projects How to Apply Submit your application through Workable. Please include: - Your CV or resume in English - Any relevant case studies, client testimonials, or project examples - A brief note on the most complex Shopify Plus project you've managed — what was the scope, the team size, and your role Important: Include the phrase "Shopify Hero" in your application message to confirm you've read this post in full. Applications without it will not be reviewed.
