Senior Mortgage Associate / Credit Analyst
D2BAn Australian home building company specializing in the construction of quality residential properties. The team focuses on delivering well-designed homes with efficient project management, accurate costing, and strong collaboration with suppliers and contractors.
Role Description The company is looking for a Senior Mortgage Associate who operates at the top of the support function — someone who can own the pipeline end to end, drive files from initial lead through to lodgement without being task-managed, and partner the broker at a high level. The ideal candidate sits close to Strategist level: they understand credit deeply, can run compliance and proposals independently, and bring the kind of judgment that keeps files clean and moving. A strong Senior Associate is the floor; someone with Strategist-level credit depth is the target. Responsibilities - Liaise internally with Brokers, Strategists, and the wider support team; and externally with Clients, Lenders, Solicitors, Conveyancers, and Referral Partners. - Pipeline & CRM Ownership - Own the Mercury CRM pipeline end to end — maintain accurate notes, task tracking, and stage progression without being prompted. - Know where every file sits at all times and be able to speak to any client's situation on the spot. - Set up new files, perform accurate data entry across CRM and lender platforms, and maintain folder structure and naming conventions to company standards. - Pre-Review, Review & Broker Prep - Oversee and push the front end of the pipeline — lead follow-up cadence (Day 4, 7, 10), document collection, Equifax and PropertyHub reports, and pre-review notes. - Complete the full Review stage independently: assess income (PAYG and complex), review bank statements via CashDeck, confirm salary packaging, assess rental income, work the funding position, run Quickli serviceability, and write review notes. - Hand files to the broker fully prepped for First Appointment and take them straight back once the recommendation is made. - Proposal, Compliance & Submission - Build the full proposal package: servicing calculator, pricing, BID/NCCP compliance, AOL setup, credit notes, lender checklist, compliance docs, and client proposal. - Identify missing or incorrect documentation early; structure and package files to a clean, submission-ready standard with nil unnecessary rework. - Submit pricing requests, order and track valuations, and manage pre-approval conditions. - Lodge applications via AOL and handle lender rework requests fast and accurately. - Settlement & Progression - Follow up with lenders, solicitors, and conveyancers to keep files tracking toward settlement. - Monitor outstanding conditions, deadlines, and settlement timelines; escalate issues proactively to the broker. - Keep status notes current and provide regular internal updates to maintain team visibility. - Client Communication - Own the client relationship through the processing phase — guide document collection, provide pipeline updates, set expectations clearly, and respond to inquiries with confidence. - Write post-appointment summaries and confirm strategy and instructions in writing. - Conduct post-settlement annual reviews to support retention and identify future opportunities. Qualifications - 4–5+ years of experience in the Australian mortgage broking industry in a senior processing, credit, or associate role. - Strong credit analysis capability — able to assess complex income (PAYG, self-employed, commission, rental), read a credit file, and work serviceability levers across multiple lenders. - Deep understanding of mortgage products, lender policy, compliance obligations (BID, NCCP, responsible lending), and the end-to-end loan lifecycle. - Proven ability to own a pipeline independently — not task-driven, but workflow-driven. - Experience building compliant proposal packages including BID/NCCP documentation. - Excellent attention to detail, file discipline, and the ability to keep multiple files moving simultaneously. - Strong written communication skills — confident writing client-facing summaries and internal credit notes. - Ability to manage competing priorities without losing accuracy or pace. Requirements - Microsoft Outlook - Mercury CRM (Connective) - ApplyOnline (AOL) - Quickli - Microsoft Teams Preferred Skills - Strategist-level credit depth — experience writing credit submissions, selecting lenders independently, and managing credit assessor conversations. - Familiarity with complex lending scenarios: SMSF, trust structures, multi-property, construction. - Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking or equivalent. - Experience mentoring or overseeing junior associates.
