• Responsible for ensuring the effective risk selection of cases reviewed. • This position requires frequent interaction with Underwriting, New Business and distribution groups. • Approval authority up to ($2,500,000-$5,000,000) through all tables and all ages. • Can evaluate up to $7,500,000. • Proven competency at all job tasks and expectations of Underwriter, Intermediate Underwriter and Senior Underwriter. • Demonstrated leadership skills within team and underwriting department. • Shows solid tactical planning and execution of underwriting objectives, both individually and team oriented. • Shows ability to make complex decisions on cases and to be comfortable with them and able to defend them. • Shows traits of continuous learning within the Underwriting profession. • Mentor and provide consultative services to subordinates. • Continually looks for ways to improve upon processes. • Solid Lean knowledge, able to demonstrate business results of efforts. • Asks value-added questions for clarification, focused decision making and customer success.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years life or health underwriting experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in AWD or similar system, MS Office skills, risk assessment skills, strong platform skills and strong financial analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills while working with different levels of both internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to meet high productivity demands for self and staff.
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and possibly work in remote setting with virtual environment and team.
