Title: Still Imagery Cataloger Location: Clear Lake, TX Job Description: MORI Associates is seeking a Still Imagery Cataloger to enter descriptive metadata for archived still imagery from the International Space Station (ISS), Artemis missions, and ground-based institutional imagery. This position is part of Multimedia Operations under the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing engaging videos, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world. JOB DESCRIPTION / FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for the following: - Cataloging NASA crewed spaceflight downlinked still images, primarily International Space Station (ISS) related imagery but will be asked to work on new programs, such as Artemis, all archived into the internal media asset management system and database, Imagery Online (IO). - Researching customer requests using various databases developed internally at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC),various external sources, and subject matter experts within the Imagery Repositories and Photo Operations. - Providing customer assistance in locating still imagery in digital and physical mediums and assisting them on how to obtain products. - Assist with other departmental tasks, special projects, and other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES/SKILLS: Minimum Requirements: - Great attention to detail; ability to consistently apply established metadata into the media asset management system with little or no error. - Customer service and teamwork skills. - Knowledge of computerized cataloging and related databases. - Time management skills; ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines. - Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows 10 or greater. - Ability to type 40 wpm. - Proven skills with writing, research, and communication. - Ability to work under deadlines. - Basic understanding of NASA, JSC, and the International Space Station (ISS). Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, One Drive) and SharePoint. Preferred Qualifications: - Extensive knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS human spaceflight mission. - Knowledge of media asset management systems, metadata principles, and basic asset management. - Master of Library and Information Sciences. Performance Expectations: - Cataloging requires the use of a keyboard, to type metadata into records and perform searches within the Imagery Online (IO) database, and a mouse, to manipulate various functions within the software being used. The ability to type and manipulate a mouse are the most basic requirements for this job. Catalogers are required to use a government furnished workstation. - Catalogers are assigned a NASA mission to catalog. Catalogers are expected to catalog mission imagery, as well as ground-based institutional imagery. - Catalogers have a variety of tools to help them stay current on activities occurring or imminent on the ISS as well as to help determine what happened onboard recently. Catalogers are expected to utilize these tools on a daily basis in their cataloging duties. - Catalogers handle research requests from time to time as well as provide ISS identification assistance for any customers or Multimedia colleagues. Catalogers are regularly asked for assistance from colleagues in the Photo Lab in identifying shots on the ISS both interior and exterior. - Catalogers are expected to stay up to date on their knowledge of the ISS and routinely attend lectures or watch webcasts to that end. New Cataloger training typically lasts only a few days and consists of some the following: - The Still Imagery Repository Lead will sit with a new Cataloger for no more than 16 non-consecutive hours. - The Cataloger watches fly-through tours of the ISS for familiarization and will review still imagery reference material. - As part of training with the Lead, the Cataloger is walked through the Still Imagery Repository Continuity Book manual. This is a hybrid position based out of Johnson Space Center in Clear Lake, Texas. EDUCATION AND PREVIOUS WORK REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from an accredited college or technical school; or six months to one year work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
