Role Description The Senior Director, Department of War (DoW) Solutions will serve as a driving force and champion for building solutions and capabilities within SMX. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the design of solutions to support business functions and client requirements as well as execution of internal and external solutions and innovation priorities and projects via leadership, individual contribution, prioritization of development efforts, facilitation of tasks, assisting the team structure work, and participating in industry panels at conferences. Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Provide technical expertise on customer engagements to address complex solution architecting and project issue resolution. - Provide technical expertise on capture and growth development activities, supporting business development customer engagements. - Lead architecture and specification development for next generation solutions for our customers. - Advise development teams throughout delivery and assist with design decisions to ensure delivery of high-quality applications, and enhancement of the user experience. - Provide technical leadership to teammates and client service delivery through coaching and mentorship. - Stay abreast of innovation and advances in development tools, programming techniques, and computing systems through participation in training programs, reading of professional publications, maintaining of professional and personal networks, as well as engagement with professional organizations. - Develop and institutionalize go-to-market strategies for software applications and solutions. - Assist in the collection, documentation, analysis and development of software requirements, system integration activities, user requirements, user stories, timelines, and work plans that cover project execution from design to delivery. - Ensure project procedures and controls are identified, communicated, and followed. - Provide regular project status updates to internal and external clients regarding project progress, resource allocation, risk and issues encountered or identified, and any modifications to project requirements. - Lead research and design activities in the development and testing of new software and tools. - Conduct analysis of commercially available, open source, government furnished, and contractor furnished software. - Take responsibility in making strategic decisions that will help ensure the implementation of initiatives. - Lead and contribute to proposal as author and reviewer and identify technical resource needs to support compliant proposal responses. - Assist SMX leadership in the development of new work through identification of new business opportunities. Qualifications - Clearance Required: Top Secret - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related discipline or commensurate work experience - At least ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following areas in a corporate or government solutions environment: - Software life-cycle management (requirements analysis, development/engineering, integration and testing, deployment and sustainment) - Systems engineering - Prior, progressively increasing experience in a technical leadership position - Experience as Solution Architect with multiple full life-cycle customer implementations - Experience with various software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, SAFe) - Experience with architectural and implementation-level design - Experience with customer engagement and project - Experience with modern IT practices, DevSecOps, and cloud operations (AWS, Azure, or GCP) - Excellent visual design, data analysis, storytelling, of technical solutions - Excellent verbal and written communication skills Desired Qualifications - Comprehensive understanding of hybrid-architectures - In-depth knowledge and experience with developing technical solutions across varying infrastructure, coding languages, software applications - Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and architecture frameworks such as Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) and Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Benefits - Health insurance - Paid leave - Retirement Application Deadline 6/29/2026 Salary Information The proposed salary for this position is: $176,200 — $255,000 USD Company Description At SMX®, we are a team of technical and domain experts dedicated to enabling your mission.
