Role Description You will lead a group of 2-10 engineers, designers, and analysts who provide our NAVSEA/NSWC/MSC/USCG/FMS Technical and Program Office clients with superb electrical engineering support in developing the next Navy ships and providing engineering support to existing vessels. - Perform as a key engineering lead directly supporting key client vessels including aircraft carriers, combatants, amphibious, auxiliary, and specialized mission ships from program initiation through concept, design, construction, life cycle, and fleet support. - Manage accurate engineering resources, staffing plans, and alignment with existing program needs for stable revenue and future growth forecasts. - Ensure engineering and Quality Assurance standards are met for the electrical engineering team(s). - Stay current in modern ship design requirements and analysis technologies. - Support technical proposal development as needed. - Focus on electrical lead for all electrical power, controls, and electronic systems engineering support to in-service design. - Explicit background in design of marine power systems including LV AC, HV AC and MVDC power distribution systems, control power systems, automation systems, electronic, and C5I systems. - Familiar with automation methodology including analog, serial, and networked/distributed systems. - Well-versed in integrated control systems as pertaining to regulatory notations such as ACCU, NIBS, and IBS. - Improve team efficiency and functionality in concept and detailed design deliverables by staying current in modern electrical design and drawing trends. Qualifications - B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related degree - U.S. Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance - Five or more years of experience in US Naval Ship Engineering, either within the NAVSEA/PEO Governmental Organizations, Shipyard Construction and Repair, Ship Operations (as a USCG Certified Officer or US Naval Officer), NAVSEA contractor support, or Similar. - Five years of experience performing as a key leader of an engineering team or in support of projects comprised of at least 10 FTEs and across multiple HM&E disciplines - Experience briefing complex technical issues (including performance, cost, schedule and risk implications) to decision makers - Strong analytical skills Requirements - Fifteen years of experience performing as a key lead of a Navsea or MSC engineering team projects comprised of at least 10 FTEs and across HM&E disciplines - Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related degree - Lead engineer for Former NAVSEA Ship Design Manager, USCG Deck or Engineering License - PE in Electrical Engineering Benefits - A culture of integrity. - An environment of trust. - A focus on continuous growth. - Comprehensive benefits such as healthcare, wellness, financial, retirement, family support, continuing education, and time off benefits. Role Description The Principal Engineer is a senior technical leadership role responsible for the design, development, and delivery of advanced protection systems that safeguard electrical infrastructure from transient surges, lightning, and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) threats. This position applies advanced mathematical and engineering principles to develop innovative product and system designs that meet stringent performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements. - Lead the design, simulation, validation, and documentation of diode-based surge protection systems for power, data, and RF applications. - Serve as a technical authority and provide leadership across project teams, guiding complex engineering decisions. - Influence and direct efforts across multiple engineering disciplines, fostering collaboration and driving successful product development outcomes.
