Job Description

Junior / Mid-Level Full-Stack Platform Engineer

Urrly

Role Description We are hiring a Junior / Mid-Level Full-Stack Platform Engineer for a fast-moving biometric health technology company building production systems around wearable physiological data, APIs, SDKs, and AI-forward infrastructure. This is a hands-on builder role for someone early in their engineering career who already has real full-stack experience and strong fundamentals. - Build and improve full-stack platform features across frontend, backend, APIs, SDKs, and data systems. - Write Python- or Go-backed services and work with JavaScript or TypeScript on product-facing surfaces. - Support data pipelines and platform workflows that connect biometric data, enterprise systems, and AI-facing infrastructure. - Collaborate with senior engineers on architecture, implementation, deployment, and technical tradeoffs. - Ship clean, reliable code in a compliance-aware environment. - Debug production-adjacent issues, reason through data flow, and improve the platform over time. - Move quickly without waiting for every detail to be prescribed. Qualifications - Hands-on full-stack software engineering experience from a professional role, internship, startup, open-source work, or substantial shipped project. - Strong Python or Go skills. - Experience building backend services, APIs, SDKs, or data pipelines. - Practical frontend experience, especially JavaScript or TypeScript. - Solid fundamentals in Git, testing, debugging, deployment, interfaces, and data flow. - Comfort working in a lean startup where priorities move quickly. - Ability to communicate tradeoffs clearly and learn from senior engineers. - Willingness to complete a live coding assessment. - Recent grads can be a fit when they have unusually strong full-stack project, internship, startup, or open-source evidence. Requirements - Depth across both Python and Go. - AI/ML, AI tooling, data infrastructure, or model-facing platform exposure. - Health tech, wearables, biometric data, IoT, or device-connected software experience. - HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR, or other compliance-aware engineering experience. - Austin, San Antonio, or broader Texas location. - Strong science, engineering, computer science, or systems-oriented background. Benefits - Real platform work in biometric health technology, not toy internal tools. - Direct exposure to AI-forward infrastructure, data pipelines, APIs, and SDKs. - Mentorship from senior technical leaders while still owning meaningful build work. - A lean startup environment where strong early-career engineers can grow quickly. - Remote/distributed setup, with Austin / San Antonio preferred but not required. - $90,000-$130,000 base salary for the right early-career or junior/mid-level profile, with additional flexibility for exceptional profiles. Company Description This is a full-time role with a distributed U.S. team. Austin / San Antonio is preferred, but the engineering team is already distributed, so location is helpful rather than mandatory. The posted salary range is $90,000-$130,000 base salary, with additional flexibility for exceptional profiles. Final compensation depends on experience, skill level, technical assessment performance, and fit for the role.

Role Description We are looking for a Senior SRE / Platform Engineer (m/f/d) to own and improve the cloud infrastructure behind SimScale's browser-based simulation platform. The role spans: - AWS and EKS - Observability - Disaster recovery - Security and compliance controls - Multi-region architecture - Elastic GPU/HPC capacity - Internal developer tooling SimScale's engineering teams run workloads directly on AWS; you will build the standards, guardrails, and self-service tooling that let them do so safely, raising reliability and security without slowing engineering velocity. You will join a small, tightly knit infrastructure team supporting 50+ engineers across the company. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role; people management is not required, but there is a genuine path toward tech-lead ownership as the team grows. Qualifications - 5+ years of professional experience in SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineering. - Software development experience: Your background is rooted in software development, and you moved into SRE from there. You write production-quality software in at least one of Python, Go, Rust, or Java. - Strong systems foundation: You understand Linux internals and distributed systems well enough to debug complex production behavior. - Hands-on cloud and infrastructure experience: AWS (or GCP), declarative infrastructure (Terraform), gitops-workflow (ArgoCD) and container orchestration (Kubernetes). - Observability and reliability experience: You have worked with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, distributed tracing, monitoring, and meaningful SLOs/SLIs. - Production debugging depth: You can investigate complex failures, communicate clearly during incidents, and turn findings into durable improvements. - Security and compliance awareness: You understand how infrastructure decisions affect access control, auditability, disaster recovery, logging, and standards such as SOC 2. - Clear communication: You can explain trade-offs to engineering teams and help others adopt better platform practices without unnecessary friction. Requirements - An open source portfolio or contributions. - Prior technical leadership experience, especially in infrastructure, reliability, or platform engineering. Benefits - Join a dedicated, supportive team with unlimited growth opportunities and leadership potential. - Make an impact quickly by sharing ideas and contributing to creative, goal-oriented projects. - Work in a diverse, inclusive environment with colleagues from over 35 countries. - Enjoy flexible hours and the freedom to work remotely from anywhere in the world. - Access comprehensive health coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and wellness support. - Enjoy fresh office lunches or gift cards as a remote employee. - Grow as a professional with online/offline learning, language courses, and tech talks. - Connect at team events, join support groups, and contribute to our ESG and DE&I initiatives. - Participate in fun team challenges and competitions for added excitement and team spirit. • Own the architectural shape of the platform — VPC, managed PostgreSQL, serverless compute, object storage, observability, CI/CD, defined as code. • Own the security and compliance shape so federal identity standards (SSO, smart-card, federated identity) plug in cleanly when the platform moves into restricted environments: encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging, identity abstraction, tenant isolation, data residency primitives. • Own architectural portability so deployment in regulated or restricted environments is straightforward when the time comes. • Own internal developer experience — logs, traces, deploy speed, the local dev loop. • Be on call for systems you designed; own the postmortem when things break. • Translate regulatory pressure (FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2, ITAR, or comparable control catalogs) into concrete infrastructure decisions. • Partner with downstream deployment teams on the handoff into restricted environments.
