Job Description

Director, Strategic Delivery

Okta

Role Description Okta is seeking a highly strategic, hands-on, and methodical Director, Strategic Delivery to join our Professional Services team. This is a high-impact, premium Individual Contributor (IC) role designed for an enterprise delivery champion who thrives on driving complex, multi-stakeholder outcomes through influence, structured governance, and process design. In this role, you will not be limited to a single account; instead, you will oversee a strategic portfolio of high-value, complex customer implementations delivered alongside our primary Global System Integrator (GSI) partners. Beyond high-level project governance, you will serve as the architect of our GSI delivery model. You will be directly responsible for designing, testing, and codifying the end-to-end sales-to-delivery methodologies, playbooks, and processes. Critically, you will play an active role in supporting the sales cycle for strategic deals, representing Okta on Joint Steering Committees (SteerCos), and building an enablement engine that equips our existing regional services, partner success, and delivery teams to scale these engagements seamlessly. Key Responsibilities - Strategic Sales Support & Deal Structuring - Pre-Sales Partnership: Partner closely with Sales, Services Sales, and GSI leads early in the sales cycle for high-value strategic deals to define clean delivery boundaries, joint investment parameters, and optimal SOW alignment. - SOW and Contract Design: Lead the structural review and delivery validation of complex Statement of Works (SOWs) and Change Orders (both customer-facing and delivery partner-facing), ensuring clear divisions of responsibility. - Capacity Forecasting: Monitor upcoming strategic pipeline deals to help services and partner alliances teams forecast necessary delivery capabilities and partner specializations. - Steering Committee (SteerCo) Leadership & Portfolio Governance - SteerCo Representation: Represent Okta on joint Customer-GSI Steering Committees, serving as a trusted advisor to C-level stakeholders and GSI executives to ensure delivery alignment, strategic velocity, and shared commitment. - Portfolio Oversight: Provide delivery leadership, health tracking, and operational governance across multiple concurrent strategic enterprise implementations involving our core GSI partners. - Risk & Escalation Management: Act as the central escalation point for delivery risks. Orchestrate and coordinate cross-functional Okta teams (Product, Engineering, Support, Customer Success) to unblock complex technical or relationship bottlenecks. - Quality & Architecture Standards: Ensure partner-led delivery meets Okta’s strict technical design and architectural standards, auditing core deliverables such as deployment plans, change management strategies, and architecture diagrams. - Repeatable Practice Building & Enablement - Methodology Codification: Design, document, and test scalable sales-to-delivery frameworks, risk-mitigation playbooks, and standard governance structures for GSI-delivered engagements. - Enablement & Knowledge Transfer: Actively package, internalize, and transition newly created delivery processes, scoping templates, and methodologies to regional services, partner success, and delivery success teams to build global delivery capability. - Partner Performance Management: Collaborate with the Okta Alliances team to maintain high performance standards among our primary GSIs, providing direct feedback on partner delivery performance and refining partner enablement assets. - AI-Enabled Delivery Innovation: Champion the strategic integration of generative AI tools to accelerate delivery scoping, automate methodology documentation, and scale partner enablement and onboarding frameworks. Qualifications - 10–12+ years of professional experience in enterprise SaaS implementation, technical program management, or strategic IT consulting. - Proven track record of successfully guiding large-scale, complex enterprise deployments in joint-delivery models with major GSIs (e.g., Accenture, Deloitte, PwC). - Direct experience partnering with enterprise software sales and service sales teams to structure complex services deals, negotiate SOWs, and define joint delivery boundaries. - Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with a proven ability to confidently lead high-pressure steering committees and align C-level stakeholders. - Demonstrated experience designing, documenting, and scaling repeatable PMO playbooks, delivery methodologies, and operational enablement assets. - Masterful ability to lead, motivate, and orchestrate highly matrixed, senior cross-functional teams (including Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and external partners) without direct hierarchical authority. - Technical familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM), Cloud Security, or Enterprise SaaS architectures is highly desirable. Requirements - Direct experience implementing AI tools or prompt-engineering models to automate professional services delivery or partner enablement processes. - Knowledge of Okta & Auth0 product offerings. - Experience scaling delivery methodologies from pilot phases to global regional offices. - Relevant project management or business architecture methodologies (e.g., PMP, TOGAF). Benefits - Annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between $168,000 — $231,000 USD. - Equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave).
