Working to protect the state's water, environment and heritage. - Office location negotiable across NSW, hybrid working supported - Executive TRP ranging from $231,238 min to $256,184 max The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW. The Water Group is seeking to appoint a Director Regional Water Programs & Services, a key senior executive role, in a full-time temporary capacity to 30 June 2028. About You The Director Regional Water Programs & Services delivers a range of regional water programs and services across NSW. This involves delivering on the Government's objectives for towns water and wastewater servicing. The role leads a dedicated technical water utility support team directed by a risk-based prioritisation framework and is the leader of a number of water programs for improving the resilience of regional NSW, including coordination of drought response activities. The role provides expert policy advice to the Executive Director, the Deputy Secretary and Executive Team on current, evolving or emerging issues impacting Water. Key accountabilities are… - Lead engagement with local water utilities, providing technical, operational and emergency management support. - Oversee risk-based inspection programs for water and sewage treatment plants and support delivery of major water infrastructure programs. - Ensure strong governance, risk management and transparent program delivery aligned with government priorities. - Represent the department on state and national forums to support whole-of-government approaches to water utility management. - Contribute to strategic and business planning, aligning policy and program priorities with organisational objectives. - Build team capability and foster a collaborative, innovative and high-performing culture across the Water group. - Lead cross-government collaboration on drought preparedness and response initiatives. Knowledge & Experience - Sound knowledge and understanding of the environment, energy, climate change and/or water portfolios, and the relevant policy and legislative frameworks, including urban water. - Experience with project and program management and delivery. Essential Requirements - Demonstrated executive leadership and strategic management experience in a dynamic multi-faceted environment to lead programs and service delivery. - Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience. - Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of professional standards and policies, practices and processes as they relate to the urban water sector.
