Role Description This is a senior technology leadership role with real enterprise impact. As Director, Enterprise Applications, you will shape how Postmedia’s most critical business platforms work together to power revenue growth, customer experience, operational efficiency, and digital transformation. You’ll lead the evolution of a complex application ecosystem—modernizing legacy platforms, strengthening integration and automation, and ensuring enterprise systems enable the organization’s strategic priorities. This role blends strategy, execution, and people leadership, with the opportunity to simplify complexity and deliver measurable business outcomes at scale. What you’ll do: - Enterprise Application Strategy & Modernization: - Set the vision, roadmap, and governance for the enterprise application portfolio across revenue, subscription, paywall, identity, entitlement, payments, circulation, finance, operations, content, and corporate services in alignment with organizational objectives. - Drive application rationalization, modernization, and SaaS adoption to reduce fragmentation and technical debt. - Ensure platforms are fit for today’s needs while positioning the organization for future growth, scalability, and innovation. - Business Partnership & Digital Enablement: - Act as a trusted senior partner to business leaders, translating strategy into practical systems, integrations, and process improvements. - Balance business priorities, delivery capacity, risk, and value realization with clear communication and transparent decision-making. - Collaborate closely with Digital, Data, Security, PMO, and Operations while maintaining clear ownership and accountability. - Integration, Automation & AI-Enabled Productivity: - Lead enterprise integration strategy, strengthening API practices, data flows, monitoring, and documentation across platforms. - Champion process simplification and automation, eliminating manual work and improving reliability and cycle times. - Promote practical AI literacy—identifying responsible, high-value uses of AI-enabled tools that improve productivity, service delivery, and decision-making (without requiring deep AI specialization). - Program Delivery & Change Leadership: - Own application-related delivery across complex, cross-functional initiatives including migrations, upgrades, integrations, and vendor-led programs. - Ensure initiatives are well-governed, outcome-focused, and supported through adoption, training, and operational transition. - Partner with the PMO on application-related intake, prioritization, governance, delivery tracking, and operational transition. - Build confidence through disciplined execution, realistic planning, and measurable results. - Vendor & Financial Stewardship: - Lead strategic vendor relationships, holding partners accountable for performance, security, roadmap alignment, and commercial value. - Partner with Finance, Procurement, and Legal to support renewals, evaluations, true-ups, cost optimization, vendor documentation, and commercial accountability. - Strengthen vendor transparency, documentation, and long-term sustainability. - Operational Excellence, Risk & Governance: - Ensure enterprise applications are secure, resilient, supportable, and audit-ready throughout their lifecycle. - Drive strong ITSM practices including change management, incident response, and continuous service improvement. - Ensure critical applications have current ownership models, integration documentation, support procedures, vendor contacts, runbooks, and escalation paths. - Establish meaningful metrics that demonstrate platform health, automation benefits, and business outcomes. - Leadership & Team Development: - Build and lead a high-performing applications and integration team, setting clear priorities, expectations, and development paths. - Foster a culture of accountability, learning, documentation discipline, and thoughtful innovation. - Develop future-ready capability across business analysis, delivery leadership, automation, integration, and vendor management. Qualifications - 10+ years of progressive leadership in enterprise applications, business systems, or technology transformation. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. - Proven success leading complex application portfolios with multiple vendors, integrations, and legacy-to-modern transitions. - Strong understanding of SaaS platforms, APIs, integration architecture, workflow automation, and enterprise systems, ideally including subscription, paywall, identity, entitlement, payment, or customer-service platforms. - Experience delivering large-scale modernization, migration, or transformation initiatives with measurable business impact. Requirements - Leadership & Professional Competencies: - Business-first mindset: you connect technology decisions directly to operational and commercial outcomes. - Strategic and pragmatic: able to simplify complexity while maintaining governance and reliability. - Executive presence: trusted advisor who communicates clearly with senior leaders and stakeholders. - People developer: committed to coaching, capability-building, and team engagement. - Sound judgment: particularly around risk, security, privacy, and responsible use of emerging technologies. Added Advantage - Experience in media, subscription, advertising, publishing, or consumer-facing digital environments. - Familiarity with enterprise architecture, integration platforms, ITSM practices, or low-code/no-code tooling. - Exposure to responsible AI, data governance, or AI-enabled process improvement in an enterprise context. What Success Looks Like - A simpler, well-governed, modern application landscape that supports growth and agility. - Stronger integration, cleaner data flows, and increased automation across critical platforms. - Confident business partners who see technology as an enabler—not a constraint. - A capable, engaged team delivering reliable services today while building for tomorrow.
