Role Description A Cloud Architect (Architect Level) at Atos GDC Philippines is a senior IT professional responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing end-to-end cloud architecture for enterprise clients. The role ensures that cloud solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and cost-effective, aligning with industry best practices and client requirements. Working in an offshore delivery model, the Cloud Architect collaborates with global teams to support cloud migrations, clarify technical strategy, and maintain 24x7 managed services (AMS) operations for mission-critical systems. Key Responsibilities - Cloud Architecture Design & Governance: Architect and design multi-cloud solutions (with emphasis on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services) that meet enterprise-scale requirements for performance, security, and high availability. Define cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and governance policies to ensure consistency and compliance across environments. - Cloud Strategy & Roadmaps: Work closely with client stakeholders and Atos delivery teams to develop cloud strategy and architecture roadmaps, translating business objectives and technical requirements into a comprehensive cloud transformation plan. - Migration & Modernization: Lead and oversee migration of applications, data, and workloads from on-premises or legacy systems to the cloud, ensuring minimal downtime, risk mitigation, and adherence to best practices (e.g., re-host, re-platform, modernization strategies). - Solution Implementation Oversight: Partner with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to guide the implementation of cloud solutions. Ensure designs are implemented correctly, integrated with CI/CD pipelines, and meet defined architecture standards and ITSM processes (e.g., ServiceNow for change management and operations). - Security & Compliance Assurance: Embed security-by-design in all cloud architectures. Implement identity and access management, data protection measures (encryption, key management), and ensure compliance with relevant standards/regulations (ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI-DSS, etc.) to protect data and systems. - Performance & Reliability Management: Define monitoring and alerting frameworks for cloud environments. Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost-efficiency and performance (e.g., right-sizing, auto-scaling, and leveraging APM/monitoring tools). Troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide root-cause analysis for critical incidents, ensuring high system reliability and swift recovery (disaster recovery & backup strategies). - Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies (containers, Kubernetes, serverless, AIOps, etc.) and assess their relevance for client needs. Continuously improve cloud architecture by integrating innovative solutions that enhance agility, productivity, and service quality. - Stakeholder Communication & Leadership: Serve as the primary technical authority on cloud architecture for the client engagement. Communicate complex cloud concepts and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cloud engineers and other team members, ensuring best practices are followed and knowledge is shared across the team. Qualifications - Extensive Cloud Expertise: 10+ years of IT experience (with at least 5 years in cloud architecture/design roles), demonstrating a successful track record in designing and implementing enterprise cloud solutions. - Multi-Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure (designing and deploying workloads on both platforms). Deep understanding of core cloud services – compute, storage, networking, databases, and security services – and their optimal usage for scalable, resilient architectures. - Cloud Migration & Modernization: Proven experience leading cloud migration projects and modernization initiatives for large systems. Familiarity with cloud adoption frameworks, re-hosting, refactoring, and modernization patterns to move legacy applications to cloud-native platforms. - Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Strong competency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) for consistent, repeatable environment provisioning. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent) and DevOps practices to support continuous delivery and automated operations. - Security & Compliance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices, including identity management (e.g., Azure AD, AWS IAM), network security (VNet/NSG, VPC, security groups), data encryption, and system hardening. Ability to design solutions that meet compliance and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, ITIL). - Enterprise Architecture & Integration: Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF or similar) and architectural patterns. Experience integrating cloud architectures with on-premise systems, hybrid clouds, and third-party platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability (APIs, microservices, messaging systems). - Analytical & Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing complex infrastructure issues. Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimization in cloud environments. - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) - Additional Cloud Platforms: Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other cloud providers, and familiarity with cloud management platforms or multi-cloud governance tools. - Industry Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with hospitality industry IT systems (e.g., property management or reservation systems) or other enterprise vertical applications, which could aid in tailoring cloud solutions to specific business contexts (especially beneficial for client’s domain). - DevOps & Containerization: Advanced knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) in designing cloud-native applications. Experience implementing DevOps/SRE practices (infrastructure monitoring, automation, CI/CD optimizations). - IT Service Management: Certification or strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes and tools, given a managed services and service delivery environment. - Frameworks & Methodologies: Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and modernization methodologies (e.g., 12-factor app, 6 Rs for cloud migration) is an asset. Experience Level - Senior / Architect Level: This is a senior-level role requiring substantial hands-on experience in cloud architecture. Candidates should have a minimum of 8-10+ years in IT with significant experience in cloud engineering and architecture, including leadership or architectural decision-making responsibilities in complex projects.
