• Designs, implements and maintains complex systems infrastructure including applications, services, servers, management tools, and performance tools. • Collaborates with peer Sr. level IT team members within the organization to develop solutions for complex technical problems & business requirements. • Leverages depth and breadth of technical expertise to address escalated issues from within the IT organization and the overall organization. • Reviews, advises and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on the organization’s business processes and goals. • Provides technical expertise for the development and management of the architecture governance process. • Partners with IT organizations responsible for applications and databases to develop solutions tailored to specific business requirements. • Collects requirements and develop technical designs and implementation plans for major systems infrastructure projects including, but not limited to, messaging & collaboration technologies. • Leads implementations of messaging and collaboration technologies. • Troubleshoots, analyzes and resolves complex business and technical issues. • Performs other duties as assigned.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build reliable, scalable systems that support global transaction growth and help teams use artificial intelligence in practical, secure, and measurable ways. You will work with engineering, product, and business teams to deliver backend and frontend capabilities that improve automation, data processing, and customer insight. Responsibilities - Build scalable, secure, and high-performing backend and frontend systems for Avalara’s global compliance platform. - Design and operate distributed systems, application programming interfaces, and cloud-based services. - Use AI-assisted development, testing, documentation, and technical exploration to improve engineering velocity and quality. - Contribute to AI-enabled product capabilities that improve automation, data processing, and customer-facing intelligence. - Improve deployment frequency, code quality, and automated test coverage through continuous integration and delivery practices. - Strengthen system reliability and observability through thoughtful architecture, monitoring, and proactive issue prevention. - Lead technical design discussions and influence architecture for complex systems. - Collaborate with global engineering, product, and business stakeholders in English. - Mentor engineers, provide peer feedback, and raise engineering standards. Qualifications - 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with hands-on experience building scalable services using .NET and C#. - Experience designing and operating distributed systems, RESTful and/or GraphQL application programming interfaces, and production systems in AWS. - Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, continuous integration and delivery pipelines such as GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, and relational and/or NoSQL databases. - Strong knowledge of automated testing strategies, code quality practices, observability, and production reliability. - Demonstrated use of artificial intelligence to improve measurable engineering or outcomes, such as cycle time, automation, quality, or deployment efficiency. - Strong English communication skills and the judgment to evaluate AI-generated outputs, apply AI responsibly and securely, mentor peers, and leave systems and practices stronger than you found them. • Develop and improve both new and existing CLaws design as well the corresponding assessment tools using Matlab and C++ programming • Support CLaws, autopilot, and navigation design development for R&D projects • Develop CLaws and systems requirements • Perform CLaws requirements validation and verification (V&V) for any Claws updates and/or new Claws designs • Verify and deliver the CLaws in accordance with the DO‑178B standard and SAE ARP 4754 • Design and develop pilot in the loop CLaws based on handling quality requirements, flight and structural envelope protection requirements, performance requirements, test pilot assessments and aircraft level requirements • Evaluate CLaws and FBW system failures, system stability and performance with analytical methods, desktop simulations, pilot in the loop simulator tests and flight test data • Support integration of CLAWS into various test rigs and supplier hardware (i.e. integrate into PFCC for Collins, Thales, NRC, CMC, etc)
