• Design, implement, and operate resilient and scalable distributed systems & data pipelines • Build scalable data pipelines (SparkSQL & Scala) leveraging Airflow scheduler/executor framework • Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, identify opportunities for business impact, refine, and prioritize requirements • Hands-on prototype, develop, productionize, and test solutions to existing and emerging fraud trends • Mentor other engineers in developing their technical and collaboration skills • Advocate and participate in efforts to advance Airbnb’s engineering processes and technical foundations
Job Requirements
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent technical field
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java/Ruby/Kotlin etc)
- Expertise with data processing technologies and query authoring SQL
- Experience in designing, building, and operating robust distributed data platforms (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Flink, HBase)
- Familiarity with ETL schedulers such as Apache Airflow, Luigi, Oozie, AWS Glue or similar frameworks
- Ability to analyze large data sets to identify gaps and inconsistencies
- Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems
- Experience with the Trust and Risk domain is a plus
