Role Description This course examines a range of equity and diversity issues in the Ontario education system, particularly the different ways that exclusion and discrimination manifests through school policies and practices. The interlocking nature of oppression rooted in deficit thinking are discussed to understand the historical roots and ongoing systemic barriers for equity-deserving groups. Strength-based approaches to teaching and community work are shared to encourage Teacher Candidates to be agents of social change and advocates for their students.
