Contractor – Civil/Structural Engineer 4, Structural Design

NuScale Power

• Applies technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision making to perform civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures • Uses structural engineering tools and implements appropriate standards to design structures including post-processing analytical results • Interacts with other disciplines and structural engineering consultants • Develops and reviews requirements documents, methodology documents, design reports, and studies • Possess strong written and oral communication skills • Lead the oversight of suppliers and review technical information

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school is required
  • An advanced degree is preferred
  • A registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience as a Structural Design Engineer is required
  • Additional required experience in the following areas: Design and analysis of structures, including concrete and steel, use of design software and finite element method analyses
  • Working with codes preferred: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Design Manual
  • Use of ANSYS is required, LS-DYNA is preferred
  • Computer programming skills (e.g. Matlab, or Python) is not required, but preferred
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

You will be known for your ability to lead teams across stakeholders while working collaboratively, encouraging problem solving, with a delivery focus. - Ideally a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) designation or equivalent international accreditation, supported by a relevant engineering or similar tertiary qualification. - At least 10-15 years of experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects for a variety of Clients, such as the South Australian Government and the Department of Defence - Strong engineering judgement with experience leading design and development. - Client relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships at a senior level. - Proficiency in civil design software including DRAINS, 12D and AutoCAD is an advantage; as is a working knowledge of Austroads and the ability to interpret and apply local authority and client-specific standards.
