Job Description
Senior Product Designer, New Channels
Headway
1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but most providers don't accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway’s mission is to fix this by building a new mental healthcare system everyone can access. We started by solving the biggest barrier to care: insurance. The admin work - credentialing, claims, payment reconciliation - is a nightmare. We've automated that. But we're going further. Over 75,000 providers across all 50 states run their practice on our software, serving over 1 million patients. We are building the best tools for therapists to run their entire practice, reimagining the experience of finding a therapist, and investing in the platform foundations to enable this at scale. We aren't just a billing layer; we are becoming the platform where care actually happens. We're a Series D company with $325M+ in funding (a16z, Accel, Spark Capital, etc.), looking for exceptional people to help us achieve this mission. We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better. About the Team & RoleNot every patient finds Headway through a Google search. Millions discover us through their employer's Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a health system referral, or a payer's provider directory. These partnership-driven channels are among Headway's fastest-growing, and they need a designer who can make the handoff from a third party into care feel seamless, trustworthy, and human. As a Senior Product Designer on the Patient team, you'll own the patient experience across our three partnership channels: Health Systems, EAP, and Payer Partnerships. Your work spans the full range, from inventing new products from scratch to scaling proven ones across new partners and segments. You'll be the only designer in the room for these channels, shaping what gets built, not just how it looks. You'll present prototypes directly in partner meetings that influence multi-million-dollar relationships. You'll partner closely with a Staff PM, engineering, and cross-functional teams including Payer Relations, Health System BD, and Ops. You'll report to the Director of Product Design for Patient. We're building an AI-first design team at Headway. Designers use AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and MagicPatterns to prototype and stay involved through launch and iteration directly in code. You'll start in planning mode, using Claude.ai to clarify the problem space and test assumptions. You'll prototype with Claude Code/Cursor and MagicPatterns to build and iterate on flows, letting AI generate the pixels and code while you define the right patterns, behaviors, and quality. We're looking for designers who are already working this way and see AI as a primary part of their workflow. What You'll Own - Health Systems. Design and scale the referral-to-booking experience for patients arriving through health system partners. This includes our Booking Assistant (BA) tool, referrer-facing dashboards, and new intake flows as we expand to more health systems. - EAP. Design experiences for patients accessing care through employer EAP benefits. This includes onboarding flows for new payer EAP programs, a major experience redesign to help patients take advantage of free EAP sessions, and early-stage product exploration. - Payer Partnerships. Create co-branded patient journeys and landing pages, improve provider directory discoverability, and optimize conversion for patients arriving through payer channels. - Experimentation. Run sustained, multi-sprint experiments to close the conversion gap between partnership-sourced and organic patients. You'd be a great fit if... - You've designed consumer experiences within B2B2C or platform constraints. You know how to make a third-party handoff feel native and trustworthy. - You bring product strategy instinct, not just design craft. You proactively shape what to build based on customer insights, not just execute what PM hands you. - You're fluent in experimentation. You've run multi-sprint experiment arcs with real conversion and retention metrics, and you treat negative results as learning. - You thrive in ambiguity. "Figure out what to build" energizes you more than "make this look better." - You communicate design decisions to non-design stakeholders (BD, Ops, partner teams) with ease, and you've used prototypes as persuasion tools. - You're excited to work in an AI-native design environment. Our team prototypes in MagicPatterns, Cursor, and Claude Code, with working demos as the primary artifact. Compensation and Benefits: The expected base pay range for this position is $180,000 - $225,000, based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for an equity grant, depending on the position and level. We are committed to offering a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package, including robust health and wellness benefits, retirement savings, and meaningful ownership opportunities through equity. Compensation decisions are made holistically, ensuring fairness and alignment with market benchmarks while recognizing individual contributions and potential. - Benefits offered include: - Equity compensation - Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage - HSA / FSA - 401K - Work-from-Home Stipend - Therapy Reimbursement - 16-week parental leave for eligible employees - Carrot Fertility annual reimbursement and membership - 13 paid holidays each year as well as a Holiday Break during the week between December 25th and December 31st - Flexible PTO - Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Training and professional development We believe a team's strength is in its people, and we cannot achieve this mission without a team that reflects the diversity of this problem – across race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, national origin, religion, family status, disability, military status, and experience. Pogo TechnologiesPriorities may shift quickly. Oftentimes, we're tackling very ambiguous problems that don't have clear-cut answers. At times, you'll need to build things in a day: we live and breathe a value called "Calculated Speed". We don't have structured management (yet!). We expect more than 9 to 5 - raw hours make an impact at our current stage. We trust each team member to create a flexible work schedule that allows them to be most productive while accommodating other priorities outside of work. We also strongly encourage time off to recharge the batteries: in addition to unlimited PTO, we've implemented a minimum 20 days vacation policy.
Role Description As the second Product Designer at Pogo, you'll help lead the product design and creative direction for our new consumer insights product, which allows brands/retailers to connect with millions of purchase-verified consumers. This platform will ultimately be used by some of the largest companies in the world. - Design core product experiences end-to-end, from early exploration through launch and iteration for our up-and-coming B2B platform and consumer app with 3 million users (and growing). - Craft polished, delightful interfaces that build trust and showcase the power of our data and AI technology. - Sweat the details - layout, typography, spacing, color, motion, interactions. - Help define the product roadmap and lay the foundations for our design language, systems, and culture. - Find creative ways to ship high-quality work in a fast-paced, often ambiguous, startup environment. - Be 1 of 2 designers (for now), working cross-functionally with engineering and GTM. Qualifications - Likely 1-4 years of design experience, including experience designing software products. - Bonus if you’ve done this at a startup, or have designed AI interactions before! - Bonus if you have experience designing enterprise-grade products. - You design quickly and efficiently, using Figma to gain super powers and reach “escape velocity design”. - You’re a design nerd at heart with a very high bar for design quality and strong opinions about what “great” looks like. - You actively seek out the best-designed products/designers, constantly collecting references from Twitter, Mobbin, and beyond. - You actively use LLMs like ChatGPT or Claude in your design workflow. - You’re relentless in pursuing the best solution - willing to explore, iterate, and even scrap a lot of your own work if it means creating a stronger product. - You’re a full-stack designer, having designed experiences from scratch and know how to bring it to life working cross-functionally with product and engineering. - You have strong product intuition and a knack for creating experiences that index on simplicity and clarity. Benefits - Above-market salaries & equity. - Unlimited PTO with a minimum 20 days vacation policy. Why you might not be excited about us - Priorities may shift quickly; we tackle ambiguous problems without clear-cut answers. - You will be one of two designers (for now) and will need to learn independently and work in tiny teams. - At times, you’ll need to design things in a day, living by a value called “Calculated Speed”. - We expect more than 9 to 5; raw hours make an impact at our current stage.
