Tax Operations Specialist
Alfa Laval AB
Role Description As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting various areas of tax and regulatory compliance for the Alfa Laval U.S. Group with a focus on process and workpaper development and improvement. You will have the opportunity to work within the US Tax team to make improvements and changes, contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. Currently, this is a fixed-term position that can be onsite or remote. The term for this position is 12 months. - Prepare and file federal, state, and local income tax returns. - Calculate and submit estimated tax payments and extensions. - Analyze and utilize company data to ensure accurate tax compliance. - Implement process improvements. - Conduct nexus studies to assess tax obligations across jurisdictions. - Register entities for state and local tax compliance. - Manage gross receipts and franchise tax filings. - Support transfer pricing documentation and compliance. - Monitor and reconcile fixed asset records for tax purposes. - Support indirect tax compliance, including sales tax and VAT. - Complete informational reporting including forms 1099 and similar requirements. - Assist with international tax compliance and reporting. - Coordinate Secretary of State qualification and periodic reporting. - Obtain and renew business and contractor licenses. - Prepare and submit U.S. Census and BEA (Bureau of Economic Analysis) reports. - Administer unclaimed property compliance and reporting. - Prepare monthly and annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 and IAS 12. - Maintain and share various types of company information. - Support business operations and cross-functional teams. - Assist with special projects and ad hoc assignments. - Develop and improve written procedures and documentation. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree (accounting or related business degree preferred) with relevant experience. - Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a corporate, business, or related environment. - Experience with accounting (moderate general accounting knowledge preferred). - Knowledge of tax. - Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency. - Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. - Attention to detail and accuracy. - Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. - Strong leadership and communication skills. • Support tax compliance processes for group companies across multiple jurisdictions, including Cyprus, the USA, and Portugal • Prepare and structure financial and transactional data required for tax calculations, reporting, and filings • Assist with tax return preparation and coordinate with external tax advisors on VAT, GST, sales tax, corporate tax, and other tax matters • Monitor tax deadlines, maintain the group tax calendar, and ensure timely completion of tax-related obligations • Prepare and coordinate KYC/AML documentation requests from banks, payment providers, and business partners • Monitor changes in tax legislation across relevant jurisdictions and prepare analytical summaries for internal stakeholders • Participate in internal and external audits, support process improvements, and contribute to enhancing tax compliance efficiency
• Manage international tax compliance across a group of companies operating in the EU and US in cooperation with local tax advisors • Oversee VAT, GST, and sales tax processes for digital products, including SaaS, subscription-based services, and B2C business models • Coordinate tax reporting, tax payments, and communication with tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions • Manage CFC reporting requirements and ensure compliance with applicable regulations • Analyze tax implications of new products, markets, payment flows, and business initiatives • Identify tax risks, develop mitigation strategies, and assess the impact of legislative changes on the business • Participate in the development of transfer pricing approaches, coordinate transfer pricing documentation, and analyze intercompany transactions • Support internal and external audits while ensuring accurate reflection of tax matters in financial and management reporting • Contribute to the optimization of the group’s corporate structure from a tax and operational perspective
