Role Description Le bureau du contentieux judiciaire et européen est actuellement composé, outre la cheffe du bureau et son adjointe, d’une cheffe de pôle, de 5 consultants juridiques, deux élèves avocats et plusieurs stagiaires. Sous l’autorité de la cheffe du bureau du contentieux judiciaire et européen et de son adjointe, le consultant juridique traite les procédures contentieuses liées à la responsabilité de l’Etat du fait du fonctionnement défectueux du service public de la justice, en toutes matières (en matière pénale, civile, commerciale, sociale etc). Il traite également des procédures contentieuses portées devant la CEDH ou d’autres instances internationales (comités du Conseil de l’Europe ou de l’ONU). - Recevoir les assignations ou les requêtes et les transmettre auprès des cours d’appel concernées. - Établir un projet d’observations en défense transmis à l’agent judiciaire de l’Etat ou au ministère de l’Europe et des affaires étrangères. - Assurer le suivi d’un portefeuille de dossiers et déterminer des stratégies de défense. - Soulève des incidents de procédure et évalue l’intérêt d’interjeter appel ou de se pourvoir en cassation. - Examiner l’opportunité d’aboutir à une transaction en lien avec la direction des services judiciaires. - Assurer la diffusion des jugements et des arrêts auprès des cours et des directions concernées du ministère. - Assurer l’exécution des condamnations provisoires ou définitives. - Suivre les provisions pour litiges de ses dossiers. The Job We hire smart lawyers and set them loose on hard problems — most of which have nothing to do with traditional legal practice. This job mixes responsibilities in any good lawyer’s comfort zone (managing and coordinating clients and cases; conducting thoughtful legal analysis; advocating for your informed perspective) with those unique to being an operator in a fast-growing tech company (user research, product development, venture finance). In a typical week, you might do any of the following: Develop the conceptual framework we’ll use to match clients to the best law firm in our network available (for their case, geography, client and firm preferences, etc.) and work with the data science team to turn it into a reality. Interview 20 partner law firms to prioritize the next set of features we’ll build, then partner with Design and Product to craft a formal roadmap and mock up wireframes for our next product launch. Partner with marketing to scope and execute a project to collect client testimonials — develop the client profile, select the right clients, draft a client pitch, and interview our clients. Over the last three years, we’ve attracted lawyers from firms Cravath, Wachtell, Munger Tolles, Hueston Hennigan, Boies Schiller, and Gunderson Dettmer — and schools like Stanford, Harvard, and Yale. As an In-House Litigation Attorney, you will be expected to handle a full inventory of more complex litigated and non-litigated files, including two to three trials per year as well as discovery, arbitration, and mediation with minimal management oversight. This attorney will also be expected to advise and mentor less senior attorneys. Applies independent analysis and judgment to prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs, etc. with close coordination and input from claims specialists. Appears and advocates on behalf of CSAA IG and its member insureds. Conducts all phases of personal injury litigation including jury trials, motions, and arbitration hearings. Is assigned and responsible for the most complex and/or highest value cases. Works on and responsible for handling complex legal matters or projects including matters not in litigation. Serves as a resource for assigned legal disciplines and resolves major issues within legal specialty area with considerable independence. Anticipates and advises on potential legal issues significantly impacting insurance and motor club operations.
