Role Description As a Senior Accountant, you'll take ownership of a broad range of accounting and tax compliance work while serving as a key support to managers and directors. Beyond delivering accurate financial reports and tax returns, you'll play an important role in reviewing work, mentoring junior team members, and maintaining strong client relationships. Success in this role comes from consistently delivering high-quality outputs, supporting team development, and helping drive operational excellence across the practice. What You'll Do - Prepare annual financial statements, tax returns, and compliance documents for a variety of entity structures - Prepare GST and FBT returns and ensure compliance with reporting obligations - Process payroll and support related accounting activities - Conduct reviews of accounting deliverables before submission to management - Manage client communications and respond to queries via email and phone - Mentor and train junior team members on accounting processes and Xero best practices - Support internal projects, process improvements, and business initiatives - Assist managers and directors with advisory, compliance, and operational accounting tasks as required Qualifications - Tertiary qualification in Accounting - At least 4 years of experience within an accounting firm or public practice environment - Strong understanding of accounting and taxation principles - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills - Experience reviewing work and maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities - Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting junior team members Requirements - Experience using Xero and/or MYOB - Exposure to New Zealand tax compliance requirements - Experience leading process improvement initiatives - Previous involvement in staff training and development programs Why This Role This is an opportunity to join a growing accounting practice where you'll have meaningful involvement in both client delivery and team development.
