ACD, Copy Location: Playa Vista, CA or San Bruno, CA: Temporary Salary: $70-75 Hourly W2, Benefits and 401k matching Note: This role is Hybrid 3 days onsite in Playa Vista, CA or San Bruno, CA. Job Description We are looking for a unique ACD, Copy hybrid—a “Player-Coach” who is equally comfortable architecting a 50-page brand identity deck as they are editing a tactical store sign. You will be the primary copy lead for our Enterprise Brand work, serving as the strategic partner to the Design Director. This isn’t just about scripts or short films; it’s about “Brand on a Page.” You will build identities for internal AI agents, concept massive associate-facing holiday events, and lead the voice for everything from “Spark Shop” merch to store murals. This role is a roughly 50% writing and 50% editing split, requiring a leader who is ready to dive into the weeds. This ACD, Copy will be responsible for creating messaging for annual events, maintaining Enterprise brand guidelines, creating swag for associates, in-store signing, and building identities across a wide variety of platforms. The ideal candidate has in-house, and agency experience bringing a blend of strong leadership skills and hands-on creative expertise. What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) - End-to-End Brand Building: Move beyond one-off ads to create comprehensive brand pillars, backstories, and tone-of-voice systems for internal and external entities. - The “Brand Edit”: Lead the copy filter for the team. You’ll review work not just for commas, but for high-level alignment with the evolving Walmart Enterprise voice. - Strategic Partnership: Sit as the “other seat at the table” with the Design Director to ensure copy and design are integrated from the very first brainstorm. - Lead through Ambiguity: Manage a diverse workload including RBX (in-store signing), CRM, internal AI personality development, and B2B cultural engagement. - High-Visibility Advocacy: Confidently present and defend creative frameworks to high-level stakeholders, including the CMO and President of Walmart. - Mentorship without Ego: Provide daily guidance and “sleeves-up” support for copy leads and writers. We are a collaborative, “no-byline” culture where the work comes first. Who You Are (Qualifications) - The Hybrid Background: You have a proven mix of Agency (for conceptual, big-picture thinking) and In-House (for the grit, speed, and cross-functional navigation skills). - 8+ Years of Experience: You’ve led 360 campaigns and brand systems for large-scale enterprises. - 5+ years of supervisory excellence. - The “Writer’s Writer”: You have undeniable “chops.” - Adaptable & Resilient: You can pivot mid-stream and keep the team motivated when business needs shift. - EQ-Driven Leader: You are cool, nice, and collaborative. You know how to build trust with business partners who may not be “creative” by trade. The target hiring compensation range for this role is $70.00 to $75.00. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
