Role Description As an Ecommerce Buying Assistant within the Lifestyle Department, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Buying and Merchandising teams. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of ecommerce operations, including: - Product data entry - Product launch coordination - Site merchandising and maintenance We treat AI as a core part of how the buying team works. You’ll be encouraged to experiment with new tools, share prompts and workflows with the team, and continuously look for ways to remove manual work so we can spend more time on assortment, vendor relationships, and growth. What you will do: - Manage product classification, taxonomy, and cross-categorization, leveraging AI-assisted tagging and attribution tools to improve speed and accuracy. - Execute product data entry and bulk product creation using PIM systems, spreadsheets, and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to create items, generate attributes, and QA data at scale. - Partner with the imaging team on asset collection, uploading, and metadata; use AI image-tagging or background-removal tools where appropriate to streamline workflows. - Support site merchandising, navigation, and on-site search optimization, using performance data to recommend updates. - Communicate and follow up with vendors on product information, image collection, content, PO status; maintain clean vendor records. - Run ad-hoc sales reporting where needed, help identify item opportunities. - Identify and propose process improvements, automations, and AI-driven efficiencies across buying workflows (e.g., templated prompts, macros, scripts, no-code automations). - Maintain QA on the live site and proactively flag errors or merchandising opportunities, carrying out tasks with a sense of urgency and priority. - Conduct competitive shopping, trend research, and assortment analysis, using AI tools to summarize market reports, surface trends, and synthesize customer reviews. - Perform other duties and projects as assigned. - Maintain a positive work atmosphere that strengthens the team. Qualifications - You are a relationship builder, personable, collaborative, and maintain a positive attitude. - You thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial work atmosphere. - You possess strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills, with comfort using data to inform merchandising decisions. - You demonstrate an enthusiasm for fashion, retail, and ecommerce. - You are proficient in Excel/Google Sheets (including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP) and have an aptitude for learning new software programs and applications. - You have 1+ years of relevant experience in ecommerce, buying, merchandising, or planning. - You have hands-on experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or similar) in a work context — able to write effective prompts, validate outputs, and apply AI to repetitive tasks. - You have a builder’s mindset — you actively look for ways to automate manual work and scale your own output. Bonus Points - Prior experience in technical ecommerce data entry. - Experience with PIM, ERP, or ecommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, NetSuite, Salsify, Akeneo). - Familiarity with BI/analytics tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, GA4). - Experience writing prompts, building GPTs or Claude Projects, or using AI to automate spreadsheet or copy workflows. - Light experience with SQL, Apps Script, Python, or no-code automation tools (Zapier, Make).
