Job Description
Manager, Growth Partnerships
Coinbase
Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system. To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems. Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be. While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported. BD at Coinbase is accelerating our mission to increase economic freedom in the world through groundbreaking partnerships. We have created a new role overseeing business development efforts for our top cross-product growth partnership opportunities. In this role you will act as the go-to business lead for the Growth organization, as well as a champion for strategic corporate partnerships - a shrewd Swiss army knife operator willing to be the tip of the spear for new initiatives for Coinbase. Coinbase is now the Everything Exchange: The best place to trade anything. In addition to crypto, we now offer customers the ability to trade in prediction markets, public equities, and token sales. For Coinbase to be successful, we’ll need to invest in growth and distribution of the Retail app through partnerships with leading partners in traditional media, consumer tech, social media, and more. We’re in growth mode and need a seasoned, flexible, and ambitious leader to serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) to lead the partnerships strategy formulation and deal execution with large corporates and other partners that either a) directly contribute to the Growth team’s goals, b) involve multiple product groups, triggering more complex and multi-dimensional deal-making. We need someone with a strong foundation in consumer fintech and a passion for trading, willing to quickly learn about other areas of the business that have strong potential to grow. The sole focus of this role is on growing the Retail business. In some cases you’ll work closely with the Growth team’s product managers to define the strategy for future partnerships and identify partners based on those traits. In other cases you’ll be out on your own - in close contact with senior leadership - to look around corners nobody else knows about and proactively share new ways for Coinbase to be top of mind with new customers. We’re looking for a dynamic, creative, and highly ambitious leader who craves ownership and ambiguity, embraces different business cultures, is hungry to sign groundbreaking deals that pave the way for Coinbase to grow via new paradigms, and be viewed as an indispensable business lead. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): Serve as the DRI for partnerships with the Growth team, working cross-functionally with Product, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, and local country directors to define and execute market-specific partnership strategies. Source, evaluate, and negotiate high-impact partnerships across payments, fintech, consumer tech, and crypto-native platforms to drive adoption of Coinbase’s Retail products. Manage top corporate partnerships with a multi-product group footprint (i.e., Consumer & Business, Developer, Base, etc.) Act as a thought partner to product teams by bringing market intelligence, competitive insight, and partner feedback into product roadmaps. Lead complex deal negotiations from first pitch through execution, balancing speed, creativity, and risk management. Track, measure, and communicate the business impact of partnerships, owning the full lifecycle from sourcing through to integration and ongoing performance. What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
Job Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in business development, strategy, or partnerships roles, ideally in fintech, payments, consumer tech, or crypto.
- Strong understanding of financial infrastructure, trading, and consumer fintech
- Proven ability to lead high-stakes deals end-to-end—sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and closing—while collaborating across functions.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action: you’re energized by ambiguity and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Highly structured communicator and strategic thinker, able to synthesize complexity and influence executive stakeholders internally and externally.
- Deep empathy for the end user and a knack for identifying product-market fit in diverse markets with different consumer behaviors.
- Comfortable toggling between strategic priorities and tactical execution, with a strong sense of ownership over outcomes.
- Passion for crypto and Coinbase’s mission, coupled with the intellectual curiosity to learn new products, use cases, and technologies as the industry evolves.

- Experience taking a business from 0 to 1, and then scaling to growth
