Role Description Serve as a strategic advisor and hands-on partner to client leaders and employees by providing expert guidance and solutions across core human resources functions—including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, HR policy and compliance, organizational development, and change management—to ensure a productive, compliant, and engaged workforce that supports the organization’s business goals. - Consults and assists clients with strategically integrating effective HR processes, programs and practices into their daily operations. - Acts as external consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to Human Resource issues relating to HR functions, such as compensation, compliance with rules and regulations, policy development, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, etc. - Conducts reviews of Human Resource department activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and ensures business practices are in accordance with HR policies and labor laws. - Assists in the planning, organizing and staffing of Human Resource departments by performing a gap analysis of skills needed, roles and responsibilities, and current staff talent; assists in the development of employee restructuring plans. - Assists with developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow within the HR area. - Develops or suggests revisions to position descriptions to ensure that high-quality talent is recruited. - Conducts analysis and research into reclassification and classification. - Provides clients with updated salary and job description information, based on market and industry data. - Works with clients to deploy and administer compensation, benefits, reward and recognition plans that are supportive of organizational strategies. - Participates in the design, development and implementation of innovative workforce retention programs. - Assists with recruiting of talent on behalf of client, to include development of job description, compensation range, posting, pre-screening applicants, interviewing, and offering of position. - Develops methods and procedures for compiling and analyzing data for reports and special projects. - Identifies and recommends areas and processes for streamlining. - Assists with, and further develops, relationships with clients to become a trusted advisor. - Assists with the implementation of HRIS systems, performance evaluation systems and applicant tracking systems. - Advises client one-on-one and independently interviews clients to provide accurate advice. - Leads HR-related projects and project teams. - Plans, assigns and/or supervises the work of others on a project by project basis. - Tracks status of projects and collaborates with team on next steps. - Collaborates with leadership. - Participates in professional development sessions or seminars. - Participates in special projects, either department-driven or organization-driven. - Presents training sessions related to areas of expertise; provides guidance and training to internal team and clients. - Recommends solutions for difficult scenarios. - Takes ownership and responsibility for projects, client relationships, and team member workload; proactively contributing to project deliverables and timelines. - Builds consensus with team members and clients; provides clear and constructive feedback. - Demonstrates flexible, creative, and sound problem-solving and solution-oriented skills; communicates solutions. - Provides mentoring and peer training to assist in the development of team members; viewed as a resource by other team members. - Facilitates client projects and oversees the development of deliverables, with the highest level of quality control and client service. - Develops internal and external business relationships, partnerships, and a referral network with the ability to identify business development opportunities for the department and firm. - Advocates for continuous improvement of quality deliverables and services, and adoption of best practices; incorporates these opportunities for improvement into department processes. - Attends meetings, conferences and seminars. - Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications - Four years or more of HR consulting experience. - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. - HR designation such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or THRP. - Preferred: Five years of HR consulting experience with exposure to a wide variety of projects and clients, Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). Requirements - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Visio, and Adobe. - Ability to perform sophisticated technical research and analysis, draw conclusions, and implement solutions. - Demonstrated technical expertise in several technical areas (i.e., ACA, FLSA, FLMA, Total Rewards, incentive compensation, compensation analysis, organizational development, etc.). - Demonstrated mastery of two or more functional areas of HR, such as recruiting, benefits, employee relations, HRIS, compensation, training, etc. - Understanding and sensitivity to the unique culture of the organizations we serve. - Ability to communicate verbally and in written format, in a professional, clear, and articulate manner with others. - Ability to explain the work product and provide clear guidance. - Advanced knowledge of software programs used to support HR consulting activities, and in particular Compease. - Demonstrated ability to use Compease effectively. - Ability to review work performed by others, as well as analytical peer and self-review to ensure quality of deliverables and services. - Knowledge and ability, with limited supervision, to ensure that daily work is completed accurately and timely, with a focus on client service and quality. - Advanced relationship-building skills and the ability to develop and solidify working relationships with clients and team members. - High-quality work product demonstrated by at least 85% complete and accurate. - Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills. - Demonstrated high level of attention to detail with the ability to apply critical thinking skills. - Advanced mathematical skills, with the ability to perform math functions and build complex Excel formulas. - Ability to communicate information effectively and in a way that is easily understood by those not familiar with industry terminology or concepts. - Ability to complete multi-dimensional, multi-step assignments using project management skills, while mentoring other team members. - Professional demeanor, demonstrating objectivity, integrity, and ethical behavior. - Courteous and tactful; exercises sound judgement, with a high level of diplomacy. - Time management skills and the ability to work independently, to organize multiple priorities, and meet deadlines with limited supervision. - Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; honest, trustworthy, flexible, and dependable. - Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity. - Willingness to achieve and maintain professional certification(s), and meet continuing education requirements on an annual basis. - Demonstrated skill in developing presentations and/or proposals. - Good public speaking skills.
